No he didn't. He has been a good depth defenseman for most of his career. Injuries over the last few seasons and poor play is why he was so cheap, he needed a fresh start to prove himself again, and he played quite well.

Kulikov was below replacement level before this season, so it is what it is. Siegenthaler will slide in and replace him and Butcher is a better player than Vatanen, so our defense should improve or at the very least stay the same. Just take the 4th and move on.

so im guessing its a 4th that upgrades based on playoff placement, likely a 2nd if they make the conf finals or finals

either that or someone pulled conditional 2nd out of their ass for no reason

Can u guys give me a brief lowdown on Kulikov.

Was a pleasant surprise for the Devils. Provided physical play and defensive consistency for a team with mostly 20-something forwards who were inconsistent defensively. Should fit well with the Oilers.

Kulikov played way over his head his time here, he's been ran out of town everywhere else he's played.

Wish we could have gotten more but whatever, free asset is a free asset. He's played better than Montour and Smith this year but it's not surprising that teams aren't going to pay up based on a nice 40 games this season when the previous 700 were mediocre.

Wonder if the immigration thing actually effected his value if it's just an annoying logistical thing.
