(If TB considered trading Kucherov to the Isles and personally don't see it as being realistic)

Wouldn't TB's first request be Pulock? Cost-controlled highly offensive defenseman. Then add in a combination of Strome, Nelson, Barzal, Dal Colle, #1's, etc.

I don't believe the rumor is true as much I would love it to be but I think a realistic package would be something like:

Strome (5th overall pick in 2011)
Dal Colle (5th overall pick in 2014)
Dehaan (top 4 guy for Isles, 12th overall in 09')
2nd round pick

for

Kucherov

The reason I added where these guys were drafted is because I believe if you offer sheeted Kuch you would have to give up 4 1st rounders but at the same time Tampa would have to wait 4 years plus the developement time to recoup the value there. This package allows them to continue to compete this year (Strome still has upside going into his 3rd NHL year and Dehaan is reliable but nothing special). Basically Isles would be sending 3 first rounders and a 2nd rounder. Strome has upside but no where near the caliber of Kuch, Dal Colle is a high end scoring forward prospect and Calvin Dehaan is steady if nothing else. Trying to be as unbiased as possible here, maybe that 2nd is actually a 1st rounder? I don't know, like I said I think this is a a lot of BS...I don't see Stevie Y getting worked over by Kuch after he came out smelling like roses on the Druin situation last year.
Totally agree with this post for the following reasons we could free up the cost of Kuch with The strome and DEhaan salaries or at least stay under the cap. We will probably lose one of these players to Vegas next year although we will lose someone we get to protect an additional player of our choosing . Kuch is the winger JT needs to help us get to the next level. Dal Cole will be good but we have Barzal and Ho Sang waiting in the wings so he is expendable to upgrade. With that said that's as far as Garth should offer Stevey Y may want more I wouldn't go any further Kuch is really good but we can't overpay

Can't see TB giving up their best offensive player behind Stamkos.

Kucherov is better than Stamkos.

Or at least he's the player I'd rather build my team around.

Him, Hedman and Bishop (if they didn't already have Vasi)

An ESPN writer speculated on this. Hamonic-Barzal-2nd probably get TBL at least talking. Isles might also have to take back a bad deal. Tampa makes this move because there window is now, they need win now pieces. That isn't Strome or Nelson with there current forward core.

Tampa doesn't make this move because Kucherov is our best forward (though I think Drouin could potentially surpass him one day) and the top postseason scorer in the NHL the last two years, and because protecting Hamonic in the expansion draft means losing Koekkoek who while not in the same class as Hamonic is still a valuable young defenseman whose loss decreases the value of this deal even further. I'd consider Hamonic-Barzal-2nd for Johnson, but not for Kucherov.

geeze id feel bad for Hamonic... respectfully asks to be traded closer to home for family reasons while still busting his ass for his team but then rescinds his request and honors his contract to play in NYI only to get traded to almost the furthest possible place from home haha... oh well, I guess its the business of hockey!

wow NYI would be getting hosed on that big time. If Yzerman could receive that for Johnson, he would be getting GM of the year award and Snow would be getting the axe!!

I don't think people realize how damn good Barzal is

Not gonna happen. Kucherov's deal is gonna get done. The Lightning players are all egging each other on to sign smaller deals in order to keep the team together. Alex Killorn outright went on the radio and said that Stamkos was keeping in touch in the midst of his negotiation and talked about it. It's not even an open secret anymore that the Lightning players are pulling strings with each other the same way NBA players are making their "super teams."

7 years and 4.5 million for a role player is not a bargain.

I don't think you realize how damn good Johnson is. 0.9PPG in the playoffs, 29 goals and 72 points two seasons ago (last year he was recovering from a broken wrist sustained in the playoffs and didn't return to his usual level of play until late in the season), and the best center on our team. Barzal has a lot of potential but Johnson gives the Islanders two legit 1Cs. That doesn't come cheaply - in fact I said I would consider this trade, not that I would necessarily do it as Tampa.

Oh I realize that Johnson is good... but Im just saying Hamonic, Barzal and a 2nd is a gigantic return. I don't see NYI giving up Barzal

You just gave Cizikis, a bottom 6 player, a 5 year deal just 1mil less. You gave Ladd, who's 4 years older and has 18 career playoff points or the same amount Killorn had in our SCF run alone, a 7 year deal for 1mil more. The Killorn deal is fine.

As for Kucherov it would have to be a huge offer and Strome is not one who would be the centerpiece. After last season I would be weary of him. I'd start with Pulock + Barzal and keep adding.

Pittsburgh fan I'm pretty sure.
