Kucherov has 1 goal in his last three playofff appearances.

Interesting how elite players like Kucherov and MacKinnon still get touted as "proven winners" or whatever even though they struggle to make much noise at all once the salary cap catches up with their teams.

Huh? Kuch just won b2b art ross trophies and Mackinnon just won the Hart last year.

They've also both won Stanley Cups Kuch(2) Mack(1), so yes. I would say they are proven winners.
Unlike say, a McDavid for example.

Fr, they're still PPG players which does say something, but any real authentic superstar player should be able to produce with any scenario facing them. I really don't give 2 f***s about the fans of said teams crying about their player being neutralized or the opponent being a tough matchup.

Kuch did have an injury plaguing him, which does play a factor. But.......Kuch arguably has 2 more playoff seasons to slightly prove himself more before people start taking closer looks at his playoff resume IMO.

So a quick perusal of the all time leaders show Kucherov as 21st in the history of the game in playoff pts with 171 pts in 152 games. I’m not always the biggest fan of the guy, but that shit speaks for itself.

All of Mcdavid, Mackinnon and Draisitl are working their way up the chart, they’re lower but the Edm guys are climbing quick with these deep runs. Mcdavid is in the top 50 and the games played in his case is really standing out. He has 134 in 84 gp. If he has another handful of games this year, then a deep run next year he’ll be in the same range for pts. These four are all standouts and have unquestionable playoff production, making this thread pretty far off base.

There are only two players with back to back 30 point play off runs Gretzky and Kucherov. There are only three players with 40 goals and 100 assist in nhl history Gretzky, Lemieux, and Kucherov. Kucherov is a proven winner capable of carrying his team to back to back cups and leading the league in scoring numerous times. Who else has a better resume other than the great one? Can you list any specific player in the league with numerous art ross trophies, back to back 30 point playoff runs, is over a point per game playoff performer, and carried their team to back to back cups? I shall wait your intelligent reply with statistics and facts to back up your claim. Cups are won with depth and physicality. The lightning have next to nothing these days because JBB gets signing undersized and overaged players.

A cup is a cup but Tampa Fans overly cocky about 2 COVID cups from shortened/modified years. Your team has done nothing before or since. Yes I am a Leaf fan but doesn't change facts.
Wow............you may have lost your mind with envy.
I am no Tampa or Kuch supporter, bur seriously, for 5-6 years TB has been one of the best teams in the league. 2 Cups........is an amazing feat. There are teams who have never won a Cup.........and there are teams heading towards 60 years since their last Cup.

You have to give them their due........

He has 1 goal and we are to believe he is on Jagr's level?
Personally, I don't think Kucherov is on Jagr's level, just a ton of hardware separating the two. But consider the fact that in this supposedly awful stretch of hockey Kucherov still has a higher points per game than Jagr did in his playoff career.

Kucherov is a great offensive player but even he had a hall of fame goalie, a hall of fame defenseman, and a great team in order to win Cups with. He was able to miss one of the regular seasons when they won the Cup and Tampa was still a top team in the league. That takes nothing away from his great playoff performances and doesn't diminish him in anyway because not even Gretzky or Lemieux ever did it on their own. His playoff performances recently certainly are not impressive though. I expected them to be better in this years playoffs.

Agreed on all points. TB was pretty beat up for whatever reason and Florida just played much better playoff hockey in just about all aspects.

Edit: add avs fans to that as well lol
The trifecta of top players teams hating each other is alive and well.

As Pens fans watch from a distance, clinging onto the past. (Or maybe thats just against the Oilers)

Jagr has him beat in the eye test if you watch his playoff games. Way more dominant physically and offensively and drives okay at a wahy higher level. A bunch of teams were just lackluster

Regardless, Jagr was scoring like 200 points some of those years. If you weren't at least a point per game in the playoffs, I could care less about eye test. The difference in games played isn't even that crazy either. 208 to 151. Jagr never scored more than 24 points in the playoffs. I get it's a different era but Kuch did that three times, twice putting up over 30.

The bottom line is, a bad 16 games for Kucherov in the playoffs still looks better than most players. But it is a bad stretch, no denying that.

Jagr was great and hard to compare eras. The best players were scoring more points for most of his career . Kucherov is leading the league with 144. Different eras and the talent is better top to bottom. Jagr was a goat himself! Lemieux was more dominant and better. If you compare their peak's Kucherov was actualyl better compared to the league average in points and leaders. IF you compare their peak playoff runs Kucherov was better too. The difference is Jagr produced for decades and had size to go along with his skill. HE was one of the best players ever at protecting the puck with his body and using his hips to keep defenders off him in the boards. Jagr was also a better goal scorer because he was more selfish which isn't a bad thing. Kucherov is too unselfish sometimes and doesn't shoot as much as he could.
