THAT WAS HIM!? WHAAAAT? Wow. RIP to a very talented manI liked him in the Blade movies.
Incredibly based and well said. The old school outlaws like Cash, Willie, Kris, etc...were true badasses. They lived the life of rebels. Speaking their progressive minds at a time the country would burn your soul for speaking out against the church, the vietnam war, the treatment of minorities, giving a voice to prisoners, etc...
Kris has so many famous stories of standing up for his beliefs. He consoled a singer in the 90s who spoke out about abuse within the catholic church. She spoke out during a show, and the entire crowd booed her. Kris consoled her, and pretty much said 'F, these losers. Keep speaking out.' as the crowd booed them both.
My favorite story is when he almost whooped Tobey Keith's ass when Keith made a comment at a show they were both involved in. He told Kris backstage 'just don't play any of that lefty shit', so Kris, an old school country boy who also was a golden gloves boxer and an army ranger pilot- got in Keith's face and was ready to lay him out. Keith wisely backed down, and Willie famously said 'Dont get Kris riled up now'.
Those outlaw country boys were genuine with their music and beliefs. Something that's severly lacking right now in country music. They weren't all up America's ass with phony patriotism like we see today. They LOVED this country, but they saw the flaws we had, especially back then. They loved this country so much, they spoke their minds about our wrong doings, and faced backlash from a big percentage of society all in the hopes they can make a change for the better.
RIP to a f***ing LEGEND. A man's man. Tough as nails, but kind at heart. None of that fake ass masculinity that a lot of men need to mask their insecurities.
Kris's legacy will live on far after his death. Great song writer. One of the best ever, but seemingly was an even better person.
