Zibanejad and Kreider give every appearance of being as close as brothers. My own guess is that Mika talked with management about declining so Kreider could make an All Star appearance as a Ranger in case he never had that chance again. FWIW, I believe... based on not much, I guess... this is also why there's not a captain this year. Suspect the inclination is to name Zibanejad but he did not want to accept it in the current circumstance vis a vis Kreider and management was OK with that.
Conspiracy theories now? LOL

Agreed. It’s funny the trade value is all you hear about now not how good he is playing or how good of a mentor he has been to the kids lol

I think because the consensus is that his time here is limited, so the trade is viewed as being the "big event" of the season.

I'm 95% sure Mika probably said no because he already had plans

If it was me, I'd much rather spend my week off somewhere nice than doing the dog and pony show in Missouri

Maybe the case who "been there, done that" but not if you have a chance to be there for the first time. It's a recognition and an honor. To each his own but I'd cancel whatever plans I had to participate.

Is this his first ASG selection? How many goaltenders will he accidentally purposely run?

A lot of people here root for future first round picks, charts, and excel sheets. Not even sure why half of them bother watching games. Pathetic.

While there is some of that exists for sure, I think this situation is a little more nuanced.

I think a lot of people see a team that still needs ammo, and is still assembling parts to build something.

I think if this year has taught us anything, it's that projections and hopes around young players can change pretty quickly. Even when things work out, they don't always work out on the time frame we're hoping for. So I think you're seeing a little bit of that pull to get more assets and hopefully increase our odds of long-term success.

In Kreider's case, it's a combination of factors, but it's always the reality that he holds value --- both for us as a player, and for us as a trade asset. He probably also represents our last best sale. Because after him, there's not a clear path to the same type of trade, nor do I think the Rangers remain in that mindset beyond this TDL.

Do you know how old you sound typing this?

Lol

What does this even mean? You're saying there aren't people here who all they care about is next year's draft and the year after and on and on? You have dudes on Twitter twisting themselves into pretzels trying to defend Buch's awful play with advanced stats. And I'm 35 so feel free to kiss my ass.

You sound 80 years old saying people are rooting for their "charts" and "excel sheets"

And it's a message board, relax lol

Honestly, I'm not gonna keep debating the same crap. It's always about asset management, extracting maximum value, blah blah blah. People here couldn't build a hockey team if their life depended on it. I get this place is called "Hockey Futures" but people here are lame. They can't even enjoy a season because all they care about is the next draft and this pipe dream of building this perfect team. Hockey fans are weird, I've never seen a group so infatuated with 17 and 18 year old kids. Kinda creepy.

Guys, do you think he's going to just run into the goalies LOL, get it! Because of Price in 2014 when Kreider was tripped, ah good memories :eyeroll:

Too bad Price is too much of a sieve nowadays to be considered.
