Seems like there's so much hype around Schaefer right now, even with the injury. Just curious on this one. Take everything you know about Kevin Korchinski and everything you know about Matthew Schaefer. Which one do you think is the better player by 2030?
Odds are....Schaefer. It's why he's going to go #1.

Not the same level of prospects.

Schaefer is being considered at 1OA with high, high level forwards, a Hagens that was touted as the next Hughes, an exceptional status Misa. He's drawn comparisons to Dahlin level ability.

Korch was picked 7th, not even the highest or second highest picked D in his draft.

I'm a KK believer, but he's also not exactly shown definite signs that the will reach his potential ceiling since being drafted either.

Also, even if KK hits his absolute ceiling, the two way ability of Schaefer he will likely never have.

Anything can happen of course, but this is an easy Schaefer for me.

Schaefer can control a game defensively like Keith did but he is better offensive plauer and bigger too at 6'2 175...needs to add weight of course but he iss so so young onevof the youngest in the 2025 draft ..

He skates so well all directions makes tape to tape psses ..hockey I. Q. Is off the charts..

Hevisxwhatvyou seek ina top 1D franchise player..
He can rush puckscend to end and finish ...
He can pkay physical butcthat only will improve as he fills out his frame...

Is their 1 aspect that is only average?

Well I think his shot from distance is not elite ...just average..but then Kk sees mot have much of a distance shot either.

But you wabtca guy who can pkay all situations...run the PP,shut down entries on the VPN..control neutral ice to create stops and transitions..,it is honestly hard to find faiktbon anything he does or does not do.

He isxa unicorn for this draft and should be tge clear#1as a guaranteed Core difference-maker franchise dman.

He can control the direction of pkay and the pace of a game.
Believe me if we get tge #1,even though we need bigger true Centers for thex1C job and maybeceve for 2C on that Core future to drive 2 kibrs, you just do not win Cups without that soecial 1D type...which Schaefer loks to be.

Do I know that Schaefer currently has a functioning collarbone? What if, this very basic injury, never recovers? and he still makes millions of dollars suing the wjc and the goalpost industry.

obviously this is a clear answer

Considering where the 2 players are in their current development, the comparison should be a no-brainer. I hesitate to get carried away but let's just say: The potential of 17-year old Schaefer is very high.
