So I see he spent the break skating with the Oil Kings.
Would he have been better served to have spent it on a conditioning stint in Bakersfield?
Actual game play at higher tempo in all situations vs lighter casual skates?
What are the pro's & cons of him staying in town with the Oil Kings?
Pretty sure I remember an interview with him where he mentioned that he was using the break to get his family settled into Edmonton as well as skating with the Oil Kings, so I’m not sure a trip to Cali was ever in the cards.

Honestly I doubt they'd let him see game action in Bakersfield, no way they risk injury.

I also think those 5 games before the break were enough to see where he needed work. Imo his hands, vision, and passing all looked great, it was his pivots and edge work that were looking rusty af.

Last game vs. PHI was the cleanest his skating has looked as an Oiler, so I think he made the right choice to stay and work on those here.
