I guess you don’t believe in change or redemptive growth?
Of all the old Oiler stars, Coffey was probably the least OBC of all.
First of the stars to get traded, didn’t come back to the Oilers looking for work after retirement from playing. He blazed his own trail, far apart from folks like Lowe, MacT etc..
The fact that Katz sought him out in an advisory role, 30+ years after initially leaving the club doesn’t sound OBC-ish. Sounds like one smart businessman bringing in another smart businessman, who also happens to know a lot about the industry. I mean, who knew that a player who was second only to Orr, when at the height of his game, could coach the position with so much skill and success.
