As now, through documented reports, yes. Kostin would have had to pack on 20+lbs to outweigh Tarasenko who year in, year out has weighed in at 225ish pounds. Even if Kostin did pack on that weight(which i can only imagine to be detrimental to his performance), it still doesn't mean Tarasenko is 200lbs.....like you said.

Yeah, I could be be wrong. I'm a pretty avid weight lifter for many years and im a pretty good judge of body weight. I think Kostin is over his 207 listed weight and I'd put Tarasenko at 210-215 tops. Id have to see Vlad with his shirt off to get a better idea. Kostin is sub 15% BF with his visible abs. Vlad might have a higher BF % and carry more weight through fat than Kostin.

I wouldn't argue against Kostin looking bigger then what was reported...because he does. I dont see any reason for his combine weight to be off by damn near 10% though. As for Vladi...you rarely even catch a glimpse of him without a shirt on. Im just going by his year to year weight. I personally think that he would benefit from a weight drop. He doesn't play that heavy of a game to begin with

Yeah, no doubt. If he's 220-230 like people say, he's playing at Tony Twist weight and being 2" shorter.

About the less talked Kostin's features, he also likes to play in front of the net, providing the screen and hunting down rebounds. Pretty typical play by Kostin is carrying the puck through the middle zone inside the attacking zone, passing the puck to a linemate and immediately going to the front of the net expecting that there will be a shot soon.

An interesting fact about his unusual name: found out in his interview that he was named after St. Clement of Rome ('Klim' is one of the Russian forms of the name 'Clement').

That's one of the reasons that it is predicted by so many that his game will translate to The North American pro game quickly, and they expect him to break into The Blues' lineup later this season, rather than spending the entire season in The AHL. Of course, his good size, strength, nose for the puck, game without the puck, decent shot and offensive sense are the other reasons for such confidence.

The thought of Schwartz, Fabbri, Kyrou and/or Thomas mohawking and dipsy-doodling all over the place and feeding Tarasenko, Kostin and/or Thompson driving to the net... sounds pretty dang good.

If he can withstand a Parayko bomb I think we have a strategy here.

Ive never seen Kostin play but a lot of describing sounds a lot like Valeri Nichushkin type comparison.... is that a decent one? I realize Nuke has left a sour taste in many hockey fans mouth for leaving NHL but IMO he is impressive as hell and I really wish he stayed in the NHL and didn't butt heads with Lindy Ruff

Its funny cause he didnt much but when he did, he dominated... I remember watching 1 game in particular against Vancouver when he did and he dominated and put on a show... I was in awe... Its almost like he didnt know his own strength and was nervous to use it at all times but then some games he realized just how strong he was... But thats how it is with alot of young man child types ... They dont know just how strong they are right away

Don't have to worry about Klim not using his size. He's a bull with the puck. He's an aggressive type of player. He'll throw lots of hits too.

Who do you guys figure will make the team first... Kyrou or Kostin?... Or will it completely come down to training camp and who impresses the most

You couldnt have asked for a better situation having Kostin over being in the AHL next season

I don't like that comparison, as I think Kostin showed signs of smarts and vision that Nuke didn't have.

This is my thought as well. Again, I don't claim to be a Klim Kostin expert, but I do think he will push for an NHL spot this year unless someone else pushes harder.

I still have yet to find any comparison for Kostin that I have liked. Everyone comes up with someone that I just can't bring myself to agreeing to.

It's not to say I can do any better, because I still have clue who I would compare him to either.
