Heavy legs. Tough only having Reid for a period.
The team looked slow coming out in the 3rd. They will be glad to get back. Reffing was confusing today to say the least.Heavy legs. Tough only having Reid for a period.
You have give them some rope here. I've driven that trip, watched the games, stayed in the hotels and I was exhausted! And I did not play in any of the games. The 2 road trips, one to eastern Siberia and the other to the north pole are the 2 toughest roadies on a western conference teams schedule. Good thing they only do those trips only once a year. I have no idea how the kids in the WHL do it? Anyway be safe.I know season expectations have been far exceeded, but those expectations have grown with the unexpected success. This weekend didn’t come close to what this team should have produced, with two cellar dwellers on the schedule.
Ottawa, Kingston, Peterborough over how many days? They never left the 401 until today....You have give them some rope here. The point is Western Conference teams only do it once a year. It is tiring. How many trips a year does your team travel to Flint, Saginaw, Soo? Western teams make that run more than once a year. Anyway not going to steal Kitcheners thread so be safe.Ottawa, Kingston, Peterborough over how many days? They never left the 401 until today....
Oshawa and Hamilton do this every month.

I don’t think they should try to score more of the dirty paint goals….i was at the game in Kitchener where they beat London and they did it by avoiding the physicality. Just pure skill. As a Knights fan, I was hoping for some of the pushing and shoving after the whistle, throw guys off their game, capitalize on special teams etc. Kitchener beat London by playing a pure skill game and that’s when they are at their best. When Rangers play a disciplined game, they’re as dangerous as anyone and maybe even better. Playoffs in the West this year are going to be interesting….Saginaw seems to be putting up a touchdown every game with their new Russian, London as the expected favourite, Windsor a big physical team, and then Rangers with the best goalie. Should make for great hockey.Ya, very valid.
The top two lines have enough skill to play the less shots on net but higher quality chances and pretty passing plays.
But the other two lines can't capitalize on that style with their skill level right now. They need to put pucks on net and do a lotta dangling and give and go.
Dunno if it's a groupthink thing or a style of coaching that has that: less shots but more give and go pretty stuff attempts.
I don't know if fatigue is really the issue here, over the irregularity of a long weekend road trip. Maybe partly, we've seen teams in tournaments play 4 games in two days, and some time 5 in three, these kids are in top physical shape. Teams are not seeing long road trips on a regular basis, one up north and one out east. What the players do between in preparation for games is very important, because it is not what they normally do at home when preparing for home games, and that can have a mental effect on some playersThese OHL players have a lot on their plates. They have all the practices and games. Plus keeping up with school and community commitments. It's a regimented lifestyle while they are on their squads. On these road trips the last game can produce a stinker. This is why it took 8 years to get that win in Ottawa. They always played the 3rd game of that road trip in 2.5 days. Today's game the penalties sucked the life out of the Rangers effort.
Rangers aren't really built for a physical game. Normally with a player like McCallum out running around unheeded the coach would tap a player like Hlachar on the shoulder to tune him up. McCallum plays his role to a tee and is effective. He is the motor that keeps the Petes in games lately. Rangers still have quite a few players learning what it takes to win on the road. I don't think they stuck to the system yesterday especially with Schaubel in net. He needed a better effort defensively. As True Blue says they better get it together soon as the season is short now and play offs are coming up. On Flynn I read a post that he has a habit of yelling at the refs.1st period.........all Kitchener despite the "shots". 2nd period. McCallum gets it going and from then on it was ashow and the Rangers bought into it. Total distraction from what they do best and it showed.
Was anyone here on the Boards at the game? What was Flynn yelling about? And I think it was Wilson yelling right back. The Ref got into a heated exchange with him but it was Flynn that was ejected from the game.
I thought that the Rangers would come out in the 3rd to play but it was more of the same and they sure didn't look like the same team that played in the 1st. They better get their act together and learn how to not get sucked into a retaliation game or their playoff run will be a short one.
Boiled over after they Kicked Reid out for a staged fight and the no call on the head shot to AndonovskiWas anyone here on the Boards at the game? What was Flynn yelling about? Rangers would never be in this position in the standings without Parsons. He gives the team a chance to win if they put in 60 minutes and stick to hockey.Parsons might be a bigger influence on the teams performance than one thinks.
I hope he stays healthy.
