Kitchener I believe has all of Chromiak, Pobezal, Chrenko, Sale, Mesar and this goalie still protected through the different Import protected types available to teams
My question is, if this goalie is actually Kerkola, and a team can protect that many players, why did Barrie release him?
They have two NHL drafted imports on their roster (06 Hemming. 06 Eliasson). The two imports they drafted in the 2023 import draft are both 05’s but probably neither will be in their plans as OA imports next year. Thats it. Unless I’m missing someone, they have nobody else to protect.
So why release Kerkola?
Also, no disrespect, but someone needs to walk me through us being able to protect six imports.
Chromiak is on the roster but not NHL drafted.
Sale as an NHL drafted player allows us to protect another player.
Mesar as an OA import, drafted player allows us to protect another player?
So because of Sale and Mesar, we protect Chrenko and Pobezal.
So I assume that from the time we claimed the goalie on waivers, we have two weeks to release one of Pobezal or Chrenko? Because if we release one of Sale or Mesar, there goes the import that allows us to protect Chrenko / Pobezal before the goalie even comes into question?
