I have no knowledge of Import Claims but I would think that if we make a claim we would only have Chromiak, Sale rights (as a 1st rd'er you can protect him) and Kerkola (if its possible to claim him this year). I dont believe we can hold onto any other rights. Can only have 2 imports unless one is a 1st rounder not on your team for a 3rd. I would think we would have to release both Chrenko and Pobezal.
The rule originally said first round pick. But now I think it’s any NHL pick. We were able to make two selections in the import draft while protecting Mesar and Hamara, an NHL 3rd round pick.

Any word on Ellinas and Campbell for the weekend? Both hurt last weekend and neither looked very good. Good thing we have extra bodies to help cover off the injuries. That was a bit of an issue in the second half last year. A few guys get banged up or sick and we didn’t have the depth to overcome. I feel we are in a bit better situation to handle that this year.
Looks like we have one of two back..........

Swick-Humphreys-Pridham
Misaljevic-Romano-Ellis
Arquette-Vermeulen-Lam
Hlacar-Grisolia-Headrick

Reid-Chromiak
Andonovski-Campbell
Dirracolo-Bilecki

Impressive goal from Arquette. Bad 3rd period but pulled through for win.

Post game Jussi wasnt really happy with anyone's 3rd period. Also Jussi says that Humphreys isnt in game shape yet. He will be something once he gets there then, you can see that he still has more to learn but I see him being a great top 6 coming in here mid season.

Hope the boys come out strong tomorrow night against Brampton and not flat for 10 minutes like the last game.

Kitchener I believe has all of Chromiak, Pobezal, Chrenko, Sale, Mesar and this goalie still protected through the different Import protected types available to teams

So Pridham gets half ridden into Day and goaltender interference is called. Parsons gets flattened near the end of OT and no call? Wasn't a good night for the stripes. Rangers should have challenged Flint's 2nd goal. Looked well offside and I'd like to see a replay.
I thought the second one looked office too but the league has offsides reviewed automatically so they must not have spotted it.

On Pridham into Day:

He was coasting directly into Day and even though the Flint player nudged him, it didn’t cause him to change his path. It didn’t look like Pridham ran Day, but he also didn’t look to try to avoid contact.

I didn’t get a good look at the contact on Parsons or the Flint second goal.

I don't disagree Pridham made no effort to avoid contact. Just a double standard present. Stripes weren't good all over the ice tonight. Right before the possible offside 2nd Flint goal the Rangers entered the Flint zone WELL offside. Also missed.

My question is, if this goalie is actually Kerkola, and a team can protect that many players, why did Barrie release him?

They have two NHL drafted imports on their roster (06 Hemming. 06 Eliasson). The two imports they drafted in the 2023 import draft are both 05’s but probably neither will be in their plans as OA imports next year. Thats it. Unless I’m missing someone, they have nobody else to protect.

So why release Kerkola?

Also, no disrespect, but someone needs to walk me through us being able to protect six imports.

Chromiak is on the roster but not NHL drafted.

Sale as an NHL drafted player allows us to protect another player.

Mesar as an OA import, drafted player allows us to protect another player?

So because of Sale and Mesar, we protect Chrenko and Pobezal.

So I assume that from the time we claimed the goalie on waivers, we have two weeks to release one of Pobezal or Chrenko? Because if we release one of Sale or Mesar, there goes the import that allows us to protect Chrenko / Pobezal before the goalie even comes into question?

It looked like Pridham was carrying the puck in right up to the moment he came into contact with Day. I bet if you go ask him, he would tell you he was surprised of his close proximity to Day when the contact was made. Could have been called, Day did make it look a lot worse than it really was, it was a good non call by the refs

ok but if this goalie reports and plays this year, than 2 of those are not on our list anymore. Also, I dont remember where but I thought I read we dont have Mesar's rights anymore.

Day got bumped in OT and went down and laid there like he was pole axed trying to draw a penalty. Rangers came out flat in the 3rd. They were struggling all over the ice for 20 minutes. There lack of finishing sticks out like a sore thumb.
Can't take a team like Flint lightly and think it's an automatic 2 points.

I don’t know. Did they take them lightly, or run into a hot goaltender? If not for Day, this had the makings of a blowout.

Will,Parson be burnt out by playoff time
Others are concerned, I'm not all that concern. Rangers can give Parsons some time off from practices to give him a break. Rangers I don't think can catch the LK and with Windsor probably winning their division, it will be impossible to surpass them.
I suspect Parsons will get 5 or 6+ more games off along with some practices off.

Seems that the Rangers run into hot goalies way too often
Hopefully when Humphreys gets in shape and use to a new system he will start to put up some solid numbers. I am sure some others like Arquette who seems to be stepping up more every game will increase their stats and contribute more in offensively. Ellinas being injured doesn't help. He is a clutch type player that goes to the dirty areas. Flint was far more physical last night. Be great to see more of the type of hockey especially on home ice. Can't have opposing teams come into your own barn and set that pace.

That's the million-dollar question, Brochu of the Knights was burned out, and it could have tribute to his injury as well. The Rangers have to be careful not to over play Parson before playoffs
Injury is the only thing I’m worried about. I’m not a big fan of him playing back to back on a regular basis for that reason.

He has played back to back often enough for it not to be an issue with him once the postseason hits. You’ll get at least one if not two back-to-back situations in every playoff round. Parsons is used enough to it now for it not to be an issue.

But I think they’ll keep running him out there regularly as long as we’re in range of finishing higher than third. Once that’s out of reach, you may see the backup a little more.
