Kitchener Rangers 2024-25 Season Thread, Part III

Josh brown in his articles today.
-Rehkopf wanted a deal done in the summer rather than after world juniors
- Rehkopf views the Rangers assistant’s as guys that could be head coaches in the league right now
-Rangers were never close on anything
- Several Ranger players were in demand
Kranger this article tells the whole story about the trade deadline as far as the Rangers were involved. Reading between the lines MM wasn't about to over pay for players that were being offered up by opposing GMs . Also he values his younger players looking into the next couple of seasons. There were likely offers for Ando etc. that were underwhelming also.

The offers for Ando and others probably weren’t necessarily underwhelming. MM said he wasn’t selling, period.

Rangers were never close on anything? I’m not so sure. They were in on talks. But likely wouldn’t pay asking prices.

MM said there were lots of interest in Ranger players. Said if someone made an extraordinary offer he would have to listen. They were happy with the play of the vets and didn't want to upset the chemistry of the squad going forward. As fans no one really knows the what goes on behind close doors. Maybe by keeping vets will get them an extra round and that play off revenue every team seeks.

I would have to assume, post trade deadline, that it’s safe to predict a London Kitchener third round?

That’s provided we don’t run into each other in the second round. That’s possible if Windsor snatches first place in the conference. That isn’t out of the question depending on strength of schedule. After Windsor, there’s nobody else in their division.

Kit / Win wouldn’t be an easy matchup. But looking at both rosters, I’d put m money on the Rangers.

If Parsons goes down, I think everyone will understand why this team won't go far. If MM was serious about going for it (which he wasn't) then he would have brought in another goalie.

I like their chances against Windsor because of Parsons, and because Joey isn't stable enough. Rangers D can handle the high flying Spits.

At the prices backups were going for, I see why he didn’t trade for one.

Not including Xu and Schaubel, we’ve used 26 cards which means we have 4 cards left. One goes to Humphreys. That leaves 3. I think Schaubel will finally get one. That leaves 2.

Now it gets interesting. Do we give one to Xu or hold off for now to see if we can get a couple flyers to report or a flyer and an import? Or a Noah Powell type FA?

We have until Feb 15 to finalize our roster.

It's all going to depend on who Kitchener dresses for the bottom 6 forwards. Windsor is a huge team. If Kitchener goes with a young, small bottom 6 it's going to be extremely tough especially in a longer series.

I'm ok that we didn't go out of our way to get the grit this season but it's something that will still need to be addressed the next couple of years.

Little surprised to see Ellinas on the wing. Thought he would have tried to do 3 lines with Ellinas, Romano and Humpfreys as C. But….i do also like that Humpfreys is put into a spot to succeed right away.

Ellinas-Humphreys-Pridham
Swick-Romano-Misaljevic
Grisolia-Mercer-Lam
Arquette-Vermeulen-Headrick

Reid-Campbell
Andonovski-Chromiak
Dirracolo-Bilecki

Parsons
