Vandenberg looking like the Vandenberg from last year. Solid saves and keeping us in after one period. Great team effort.
Nice job by Vandenberg tonight. Solid in net and came up big when he needed to.

Nice to see Serpa with a couple of goals. Unfortunate miss on the empty net for the hat trick but whatever.

Pretty goal by Pinelli early on. But, not surprised in the least to see him get that 10 minutes for the mouthguard. Not because I was happy to see him get the 10, but because it was about time. That thing’s been hanging out of his mouth all season. And no way he was given that 10 without having been given a couple warnings prior. Also stings a little getting the 10 as the Rangers we’re going on a power-play. But, better to get that 10 minute slap on the wrist out of the way now than in April when the games matter.

Unfortunate pass by Valade to the opposition for North Bay’s first goal. That one stung.

At a time when people on here and elsewhere are talking about the Rangers possibly upgrading an OA skater or two, great night by Serpa and a little less than that for Valade. But it’s just one game.

Vandenburg looked great tonight. Honestly, he was the reason the team won.

As always you take the 2 points and run, but the Rangers got pretty badly outplayed.

Have a game kid!
Lucky for the Rangers North Bay only had one power-play. The one power play they did have, they were dominant in the Ranger zone.

Only for Vandenberg, they score on that power play.

I’m hearing the flu.
Also hearing that Parsons may be as good as done for the season with a shoulder injury. That’s hearsay though so take that as it is.

Who knows? First Vandenberg. Then Parsons. Now Marco. How about we trade for yet another goaltender. Looks like we’re gonna need him sooner or later if we want to get through this year.

Great action tonight, I thought the Rangers controlled the first half of the game for the most part and North Bay really turned it on the last half.

Was a great game to watch and the atmosphere at the Aud tonight was as great as its been since I can remember. The crowd was really into it from the start right to the finish and the tunes were great all night.

I thought Kitchener controlled the first half and North Bay dominated the second half, only 1 shot for the Rangers in the 3rd, but full cudos to Vandenberg. After the season he had in Jr. B and the numbers he posted; this was exactly what I expected/hoped we would see from him.

We have to finish this weekend strong tomorrow vs. Guelph and Windsor respectively and get over this .500 that has been extremely elusive. Seems to be 2 steps forward 3 steps back.

At the rink I heard Constantini was supposed to start but that it's a day to day thing only. Hopefully we hear more on Parsons but I'm fine with Constantini and Vandenberg if we get this type of effort from Vandenberg 90% of the time.

Umm, all do respect, I was not that impressed with Brochu last year. Especially vs the Rangers. But I know he did have injury issues last year so there’s that. But I get where you’re coming from! You guys are in rebuild mode this year and it will be cool if you guys could get big return for Brochu. But it might be tough if all the contenders are set in goal.

I will also point out that the Sudbury broadcaster made the comment about Kitchener starting their back-up against the Wolves and proceeded to give the audience a similar misleading impression that you outlined above. A simple bit of pre-game research would have helped the broadcaster realize that the Rangers were playing 3 games in 3 days. The typical plan is to play your back-up in game 2. The Wolves started their back-up vs. the Rangers back at the Aud in their 7-2 win. Were Ranger fans supposed to get the same impression ?
I wonder if the Sudbury TV broadcast team watched our 1st star, third string goaltender last night against North Bay and their goaltender that was NOT the backup? If not, perhaps they could check out the OHL site "Save of the Night".

Yeah I apologize for that rant. I'm just not a fan of misinformation on a public forum - especially since it is so easy in this age to spread incorrect information.

Credit to Vandenberg last night.

Lots of complaints on Brochu on the Knight's thread. LND are you an agent for Hunter trying to sell the Rangers damaged goods again? Maybe it's an ego thing. Not good enough for the Knights but okay for Kitchener Rangers. ;) Maybe MM could get a haul from Hunter for our 3rd string goalie. One man show last night.

Great first half. NB stormed back in the second half, but I thought the Rangers did a good job of limiting prime scoring chances, in a way they weren't doing most of the year. Showed they can hang on and grind out a defensive win against a strong team that just had 2 major additions to their team. Vandenberg was very good as well, looks like his confidence is really growing.

Based on what I saw of the NB PP last night, it served the Rangers well staying out of the box most of the night.

Great to get the 2 points defeating a top squad again. The Rangers need more from the vets on this team. Lots of soft passes picked off still. They went into a shell in the second that continued until the end of the game. Mesar must realize now that this is a talented league. Nothing comes easy in the OHL. Last night's game reminded me of some of the old Deboer days where the Rangers got a couple of goals up and went into a defensive shell shutting the opponent out. A win is a win. That save Vandenberg made in the last second was incredible. Not many goalies in this league could performed better than this kid did last night.

Really surprised to see Saginaw the team that finished dead last at the top of the western conference at the moment. The west is certainly up for grabs this year. The east is always a hard read. Ottawa looks like the strongest contender. It's far too early to make any sort of real prediction. North Bay made a big trade and still lost to the Rangers. They can't be satisfied with that result. It is really going to be an interesting season with a bunch of teams making deals to bolster their line ups.

Specifically regarding Saginaw, I know that they were able to pick higher up in the drafting order (Misa for example), but I do think that they made some other good selections in the recent drafts too.....at least from my brief check.

Offensively, here are some good players amongst the top scorers in the league:
Loukus was a 15th rounder.
A high-caliber player in Bloom was had in the mid-2nd round.
Mangone was a U-18 pick.

Not bad.......and those import picks aren't too shabby either! I'm guessing a good portion of the credit goes to the scouting staff.

Edit: mind you, having thought this through, maybe that same scouting crew had a bad stretch prior (LOL).

Per Josh Brown, if I read correctly, it sounds like Parsons is week to week.

I always find Josh's articles a good read. His periodic references to Cutter Gautier admittedly has me wondering whether or not a writer could have some shred of inside scoop. Not necessarily saying he has access to information that suggests we'll eventually see Gauthier here, but on the other hand he does have a heck of a lot more connections than I have. Josh - you're killing me on this.

The teams got notice last week on mouthguards . They called them all over the league last night .

Gauthier has six goals and nine points in eight games at BC. He’s obviously playing regularly and thriving. I don’t see him leaving.

Brown needs to find another player for his wish list.

Some games they had multiple mouthguard violation misconducts issued. You'd think after the first one the players would learn smh.

Watching Guelph honour Ryan Callahan and raise his number to the rafters. It bothers me to no end that the system Kitchener has chosen of having to be in the Hockey Hall of Fame has Paul Coffey honoured while Brian Bellows, Walt Tkachuk and many others who made much bigger contributions to the organization have nothing.

I agree big time. Mike Richards was a guest on Spittin Chiclets a while back. The guys were in disbelief that his number has not been retired at the Aud.

I don’t know what’s worse: the criteria for retiring their numbers, retiring #1 for the fans, or having Carl Zehr on the captains wall in the room. The Rangers is supposed to be a class organization but they really dropped the ball in these areas.

Geez! They have a banner for Larry Robinson and the Rangers could not even put his number as a Ranger on the banner. It’s pretty embarrassing when nobody in the organization knows what number he wore as a Ranger. Instead, they put 19 up there because it was the number he wore in the NHL. 🙄
