I'm sure this question has been asked a hundred times before but I thought I would ask. Is there a way I can sell the occasional Rangers tickets on here or is that against board rules? If not, any proven, tried and true, recommendations as to how to go about it?
ive seen it on the london board, maybe the moderator from london will have an issue with it, but from a consistancy perspective it should be fine here.

One issue that stands out with the Rangers the last couple of years is the fact that only a couple of roster players were drafted by NHL teams. Other franchises like Guelph have several drafted players. I believe this is a scouting issue. Maybe the present group of scouts is just not up to par when it comes to assessing talent.

I'm not familiar with the scouting team but how long have each held their positions? Time to clean house? Think "Hockey Canada". LOL!

Not sure who it is now, but they had a bunch of long time scouts including a father son duo, but they changed several of them including goalie scouts a couple years ago.
I don't think it's the scouting. Our player development staff/team needs to be re evaluated if anything for my money.

Not sure who is on the scouting team. Have seen some of them in Ranger videos. I believe there is some nepotism there. Could be mistaken. I think having drafted players on the roster is a measuring stick of the talent level of any team in the OHL. The OHL site game sheets have started recording players names and who they are drafted by if they are in on scoring. One would have to surmise these drafted players have more potential when a team is in "contention". The question that has to be asked is are the Rangers overrated this year? My hope is the new coach whips them into shape and we see them start winning consistently and convincingly. Haven't won a free ticket in the lottery for years so I won't hold my breath. Love the taste of crow pie though. 🥧

“I think Filip Mesar is better off scoring 80 points in the OHL than he is scoring 40 points in the AHL.” - Kent Hughes, noting he has spoken to Mesar’s agent and they are discussing where he will play this season. But Hughes’ preference is obvious.

Let's not waste his time here.

I'll give it a try on here. Can't make the 2 games this weekend for starters. EVERYONE, keep me in mind if you need tickets!

They hired a bunch of new scouts including goalie scout a year before the pandemic or thereabouts. I recall looking them up a couple times during that period and there had been a Father and Son duo (the son starting at 18 or 19, clearly nepotism was a key factor in him getting a job over anyone else more seasoned) and I can't recall if they were let go or not (I think the son was).

Nepotism unfortunately is still a huge part of the inner workings and hiring process in hockey...I think our GM has been good at his job, but I don't think it's unfair to suggest his father had some influence on how fast he rose through the ranks post-college.

Just looked. They list their staff here: Front Office Staff – Kitchener Rangers
Oh, looks like the nepotism hire Darryl Hollowell (dad Ray Hollowell also still on staff) was promoted to head scout lol...boy he must be a real wunderkind to get the job at 18 or 19 fresh out of AA hockey, on the same team as dad.
4 guys from 2004 or earlier. Doesn't say when a few joined.

I was right about Goalie scout, he's joined summer of 2017 and seems to be responsible for Parsons who for my money is better or as good (but can't think of any off the top of my head) that we drafted and developed under previous scout and Tisi.

Nepotism has raised its ugly head in a few franchises over the years. I would like to see a season were several Rangers are at least ranked on scouting list for the NHL. Not many Rangers players have been ranked lately never mind being drafted.

Are we spending too many picks on flyers ? I haven't compared to other teams so I don't have the answer. Thoughts ?

I (and several others) have expressed discontent over this for years. Is it scouting, development or both. One name I still see high on the list that's been in there for years is a former GM.

In any case our current roster definitely falls short of ranked/drafted players compared to other teams. Which begs the question - is this really a "go for it season"?

PS - part of the reason we have so many dentists may be that many dentists work within a group now. I know that Hurlbut and DiMiglio do for sure. If one of these kids gets a puck or stick to the mouth, they would take whoever is on call. This isn't a bad thing, although it may seem funny.

When you take flyers on your 1st and 2nd draft picks and not have them show up it impacts the team going forward for sure.
Longacre wasn't drafted as a flyer. From the horse's mouth:

“We thought he was going to come and had made that commitment to us when we drafted him. Otherwise I don’t think we would have taken him and run the risk of drafting two players that were question marks with our first two picks."

Rangers being a contending team this season mostly depended on several vets that had average seasons last year stepping up to the plate this season. I think superior goaltending last year gave the team a false sense of success somewhat. Hopefully they get back in the win column starting this week. I doubt the Rangers beat London last year without the goaltending. I still think they are a long way from a championship caliber presently. The horrible start to this season really puts pressure on the GM and the coaching staff to either make changes or wait and see if the vets start to come around.

I'm hoping MM waits to see if the vets come around before making changes that most likely mortgage the team's future. I'm not giving up hope yet but we should be getting an indication in the next dozen or so games.

We expect to contend this year. Part of that is making changes that mortgages the team’s future.

If we’re not prepared to do that, we might as well sell.

I like the way the Knights are proactive when they feel it's an off year. Picking up a couple of stud players. Say what you want about the Hunters, but they do seriously want to keep the Knights interesting for fans. Getting a player like Dickinson is exciting.
