That's where you and I differ in opinions and that's okay.

He looked phenomenal in red and white at Dev camp so yeah I can see why you guys are crying.

Nobody here is crying…lol. Hockey forums are for rumours and until he puts pen to paper the rumours / talk will continue. I think Ranger fans are very happy(maybe happy crying??) with how the draft went and how quickly are top 3 players (sounding like 4th today) have quickly signed with the team.

You're all 100% wrong about Brady Martin

He is and will stay a Soo Greyhound.

Are you crazy? Stop creating fake narratives man. This is SO damaging to the players and families involved

I'd honestly feel EMBARRASSED to post this.

Brady Martin is signed. At development camp he wore a visor, which per hockey canada rules states noone under 18 can wear unless signed by team( outside of the current signed players that were at dev camp, Martin was then only rookie with a visor. Pretty good signal that announcement is pending.

I have spoke to former coaches and family of Brady and everything I've heard first hand goes against what you're saying. Give it up man, this is a brutal look.

You just don't want to lose to the Soo anymore eh? ;)
Always find it suspect when an "average fan" says they spoke to former coaches and family of players. Most former coaches don't really respond to just any person calling their house or office. If Martin signs with Soo more power to them. Sorry I think you are wrong about the visor.

You're right they don't for the "average fan"...

Calling their house or office? Ya like Twitter doesn't exist. Like Facebook doesn't exist. :S

Did you accept that $1 bet for $100,000? I’ll have my lawyer set it up and send you the papers to SIGN to make it legit. After all…it’s a free $1 for you. You said it’s 100% and after you talking to coaches and the family then you should take the free $1.

Jives I will be crying tears of joy if Brady comes to Kitchener. Little foggy about how many 16 year olds a team can roster. I think it is 4 and a limited number of games for a fifth?

Okay Hfp92 I call uncle. You are a real Insider man. You win! Still be nice to see home town boy Brady putting the biscuit in the basket here in his home town. If not hope he does well in the Soo. :)

Four 16 year olds. Unless you trade for one or more. Then you can ice them all. See Missy after last years trade deadline.

Stark signs.

Top 4 picks signed. Great start to the off-season. Now go get a coach and continue building off this.
Patrick Roy! LOL!

So what does the rule actually state? That you can sign 4 x 16-year-olds that you draft plus any additional ones you acquire via trade?

Not 100% on the actual rule. But I keep hearing 4 x 16 year olds. The fact we signed four means we can go with four.

Missy had 3 x 16 year olds, one of which was a goalie. Then at the deadline they picked up Martone and Van Volson. That’s 5 x 16 year olds, but one being a goalie.

There was a time a few years ago that you could have “x” amount of 16 year olds (whatever the limit was) but were allowed another if one was a goalie. These days, not so sure.

It’s apparent that whatever the max is (at least four based on our signings) you can be at that number, then add to it, by trading for others, as Missy did at the deadline this year.

Hope this helps.

SSM had: Virgilio, Brown, Kostov, Miller, Brodie McConnell-Barker all signed. Miller and Barker spent their time in NOJHL close by. So it appears you can sign more than 4, but only dress 4 at any given time.

Something changes at the deadline about this rule though i think. Hounds ended the year having Spencer Evans and Tate Vader on the team as well ( due to injuries )

SSM had 6 2006 born players that played last year.

This is a good start to the future - our very own "Core 4". I like what Mississauga did at the deadline - grabbing some talented youngsters at the deadline. As you mentioned in your detailed post a couple pages back ES, in a similar way, I am also hoping the Rangers can also add one or two more quality '07's through trade. ( I'm not talking about the Soo's Martin. I want to avoid that whole discussion :) . There are others).

I also like your thought of acquiring Toure from Sudbury (a lot) for the sake of this young team. It sure seems likely Martin returns home for his final year, so a deal with the Wolves is a possibility. Would the Wolves part with Toure ? My concern is the asking price for a 6'-7" OA. If the Wolves contend next season, my fear is that they wouldn't want to part with this guy.

Selected Players in the OHL
OHL Member Teams are permitted to register a maximum of four 16-year-old players selected in the OHL Priority Selection. Those 16 year old players that are allowed to be signed are the first two 16-year-old players selected and a maximum of two additional 16-year-old wild carded players in any round of the OHL Priority Selection.

Don't say "core four". It's asinine and a recipe for failure. Leafs getting blown up after this year.

If Brady Martin doesn’t become defective, he'd be off the table - obviously.

Moving Rehkopf this year should bring us another 07 - hopefully a D.

Especially if they’re trading for Mitchell Martin, Sudbury has better OA options than Tourre who, like Hollett, I believe bounced around the lineup when he dressed last year. I’m thinking they’d be looking for a landing spot for him.

Coming here with us rebuilding makes sense the same way Mutter coming here did.

Someone from the Sudbury board may be able to help us out on this, but I have D- Anania, and F’s Larmand, McCallum and Boudreau ahead of Tourre on their OA depth chart.

There’s rumblings that McCallum may want a trade south which would make some room for Martin.

Saw Hage listed high for next years draft in an article. Haven't heard a thing about this kid since the Rangers drafted him. Other than he was defected and injured in some manner. All the info on him is before he was drafted by the Rangers. Just thought I would throw that out as he was mentioned in Even's post on trades. :)

Something else that is going to matter eventually is the number of gold packages a team can have on their roster. I thought it was 7 at one point?

1st rounders get them plus anyone higher end that we’d need to get pen to paper. Did we have to give Lam and Stark gold packages to get them to sign? I’m thinking we may have.

To date, we probably have Rehkopf, Reid, Romano, Lam, and Stark signed to gold packages. If Brady Martin ever happened, that’s another. Ditto Hage. If Longacre had a change of heart, would we need to offer him one to get him here?

Then there’s our ‘24 1st rounder to consider.

Rehkopf’s would swap out for the 1st rounder coming the other way in any deal.

But if the number is seven, we may have issues down the road.

Be interesting if he still plans on playing in the OHL in his NHL draft year - as was said by the agent prior to the ‘22 OHL draft.

It’ll likely take until September before we hear anything concrete on this.

I saw this rule but obviously there are some sort of exceptions given with these other teams, mentioned in other posts, that have had more than 4.
