I fully expect Pinelli to be suspended going by the league standards. They will defend the referees decision regardless of what we armchair GMs think. My point is they have to be consistent if they are concerned about player safety. The Sop hit goes uncalled and should have been a match. The Wright hit should have been at least a four minute penalty. You can't call one incident an let the rest go. The Spits certainly have been on the right side of the refereeing so far in this series going by the number of power plays. Savard can't use the refs as an excuse for his failures. Rangers still won the game without Pinelli who is a massive part of the Rangers success when they do win games. Others stepped up.

I'm still going to wear my tinfoil hat. o_O
I think the fact that the referees took so long to review Pinelli's penalty may work in the Rangers favour if the league reviews it. The fact it took so long says they had a lot of questions on the call - whether it deserved possibly more or less. A 5 minute major was their conclusion. Possibly that's the end after a thorough review.

The DeAngelis hit on Sop was at least as dangerous. If Sop stays down (which happens all the time) the referees are looking at the tablets again and likely coming up with the same conclusion.

I have no intention of defending that hit. I can see what he did. Not a good play for sure. What I am unclear on is why Kitchener fans want to defend the hit on Peer? Very hard to see through those blue tinted glasses I guess. Fortunately the league is the one that gets to decide the consequences. We will see where this goes although I'm sure if Pinelli gets suspended it will be a conspiracy against Kitchener.
I'd like to see where anyone "condoned" it, because it looks like you are frustrated and you're adding a bit of dramatic license to make these accusations.
Here is an interesting concept you may have failed to consider or understand:

thinking the Pinelli hit wasn't worth 5 and a game (based on situational context), and that their was no intent =/= Pinelli hit good.

For your accusations to hold any weight, Ranger fans would both A) have to see and believe the hit to be intentional, and then B) thereafter approve of the hit. That's not the case.

Anyway according to your logic, a lot of things spits fans are saying would count as "condoning" some bad stuff as well, maybe police your own first if you don't want to be taken in bad faith.

less than a second...5-6 feet...those are the same thing.
I should have said "strides", not feet, that would theoretically give Pinelli enough time to avoid collision...we agree if it was 5-6 feet even (I think it was less, but a new angle could prove me wrong) there would be no time to react and difficult to avoid collision.

On a brighter note. All the yellow and red seats have been sold. Only blues left to go before tomorrow.
If they can bring that level of play, even without Pinelli, it should be a real good game.

And, not assessing a match penalty works in his favour as well. 5 and the game, two minutes in, should be deemed penalty enough in this situation.

Had there been a match……

Also interesting:

We got no replays of Pinelli / Peer in house. I understand why. But, then why were they able to show multiple replays of the missed Sop headshot from multiple angles?

I was sitting between the benches a couple rows up at the tunnel so could hear everything. Savard was absolutely delusional all night trying to game the refs. He spent more time bitching at moaning to the refs than focusing on running his bench it seemed.
I think Savard knows his neck is on the chopping block if the Spits fail to win the series. He has had a passion for baiting referees all season. When you look at the calls the refs are well on his side but he still failed to succeed. Whose fault is this. Certainly not the Rangers. Rangers are focused on winning the series and haven't got time for Side Show Savard.

Oh. By the way. Can we refrain from riling the hockey gods tomorrow night?

NO BROOMS in the house please!!!

There is no more effective “bulletin board material” in the eyes of the visiting team.

I still remember the look of determination of that 2010 Windsor team as they came on the ice at the Aud for game 4 at the sight of brooms in the stands.

7700 people, I expect a few brooms. Rangers have responded to every mental aversion (last seed, terrible season, captain out etc). The last one is apparently a team from 13 years ago. Let's just finish this.

You're right - there's no sense giving a team extra motivation. I recall Taylor Hall scoring a big goal in game 6 I believe. He just glared at the fans after.

Because it wasn't a hit, it was a collision caused by Peer. I was there. I saw it. Were you??

And I watched Savard try to engage the ref at the beginning of the 3rd. One of many attempts throughout the game, If he had a plan at the beginning of the game, it never happened and despite his team playing desperate hockey, Rangers battled back (without their Captain) and went 4-2 until the refs got involved right at the end.

It's Rangers to win now. They have proved they can play this team AND beat this team.

PS If Brandt can get away with one game for what he did, Pinelli has already served more than he deserved.

IMO , I feel if a fan brings a broom to the game you either leave it outside or go back home and watch the game on the tube. Last time it back fired on the Rangers. Spits aren't going away that easy. In that game I believe it was Morin that got stripped of the puck by Hall who went on to score a killer goal that started a come back. Morin was cherry picking that whole game waiting for passes up the ice. At least I think this is my reoccurring night mare.:eek3:

Bad line change. Dan Kelly didn't get on the ice quick enough. Hall snipe bar down just over the blue line. Like it happened yesterday. The Akeson goal to tie it at 4 was the loudest I had ever heard the Aud. Then Spott thought, let's use this energy to call a timeout. What a bonehead.

This is cute. Sounds like this is all Peers fault? How dare he jump on the ice facing the play! That never happens in a game ever LOL. No I was not there but did see many replays by your Rogers Team and announcers ( who were there) and they were very clear on the fact it was a bad hit by Pinelli on a vulnerable player, Peer. But go ahead and keep trying to defend it.
This is last time I will post anything on this until the league has their say.

Homerisum clouds everyone's views so why bother.

Oh you are absolutely correct . Our two announcers are the beacon of authority . If they said it you must be right lol

This is why I wondered why you came here from the start. You come into our thread mad because our homer opinion is different from your homer opinion.

Our announcers also called the Sop hit a brutal elbow to the face ( not sure if elbow, but definitely a headshot that looked intentional) that warranted a possible major and thought the cross check to the back of Sop from Wright was a major at first.
The difference between us is I'm not going into your teams thread and throwing around accusations because you (and your teams fans) aren't demanding your players be suspended.

When was the last time the building was this full for a playoff game? Second or third round of 2018?
2018 game 6 against SOO was 6975. We got just over 7000 against London in 2013 game 4. That was the killer OT game. Win that, tie series. London won that game in OT and the series in 5.

Thursday should be largest playoff game we have had since the blue seats were added. Obviously lots of regular season games that have sold out.

37 tickets left now

The best case scenario for the Rangers is to win that game 4 of course. If the Spits start winning games, that old nightmare may start playing inside some heads.

When Pinelli got ejected I thought to myself this could be the turning point in the series. To their credit, the Rangers did end up winning. However, to actually win 4 in a row against this Spits team won't come easy. If Pinelli does get suspended, it makes it even tougher. IMO Windsor played their best game of the series last night, and as I had mentioned, I thought Onuska played very well; made some great saves.

They used to jam in over 7000 back in the 70's and 80's in the playoffs prior to any renovations. No fire code (?) = a packed, crowded, loud mass of fans. If you were in the 2nd or 3rd row of standing room along the top rails, good luck at seeing the game. But the atmosphere was priceless - especially the way the game was played back then.
