Went to the game in the Royal City and geesch I can't wait for Joseph Garreffa to be fulltime player. This kid was a "Little Ball of Wow" last night.

I think it Ranger fans will see some exciting hockey in the next couple of years with Mascherin, Miereles, Garreffa,Roberts,McHugh and that other kid they the team picked up that plays in the US. Opilka, Richardson should be in net next year. Carty goes OA. Little Del Zotto is also picking it up in Cambridge under new coaching. All bodes well for the future. Garreffa sure put on some moves in Guelph last night. Coast said he looks great offensively but needs work going the other way. Par for the course for most rookies.

I agree about Sergeev. I'm not sure what else he can do to prove his worth to fans, because there really is no concern when he's on the ice. The puck is coming out of the zone, on the tape of a forward's stick in a spot where they barely break stride. Those d-men don't grow on trees.
I see it differently CG. I sit in section 7 so I have the pleasure of watching him up close for two periods.
He is afraid to go in the corners first to retrieve the puck if it means taking a hit in order to do so. And when he lets the opposing forward go, he is unable physically to take it away.
He makes blind passes around the boards and most, if not all, end up on the stick of the point man. So we go from owning the puck to giving up the puck to a point that is not covered.
He and Hora's favourite play is the little reverse back to the partner. It is pretty much their only play when under pressure, and the good teams/players know this. As a result, it isn't working.
Next game, watch how many of his passes are tape to tape. This is a pet peeve of mine for the whole league. These kids spend more time learning to flip the puck up off the ice and cradle it in their stick than they do learning to pass to a team mate who is moving. We need to get back to teaching some fundamentals.
End of rant. Elections make me cranky. :(

So this is pretty much the best start we could've hoped for given it's an all-new staff. It would've been nice to win a couple of those regulation losses, but no complaints. 3 of 3 this weekend, including beating two real solid teams. Opilka seems to be adjusting very well to the league, and Carty is proving to be a solid option to spell him when he needs rest.

I agree, 15 out of a possible 18 points is a great start! Getting Robinson back is a huge lift! Still need a sniper though, especially for the powerplay! I was at Fridays game and I thought it was the most complete game start to finish effort wise I have seen in quite awhile. Roberts is going to be real good in a couple of years!! Great IQ and patience for a 1st year player!

Apparently there will be a Ferrari on the ice Friday night. Suppose to have nice wheels:)

Lol well done. Gotta love Ferrari's snazzy new red and white paint job too. Hall is on a conditioning assignment, so decisions aren't far away. Good problem to have though.

To many forwards and defence it is a good problem to have. The guys playing are happy and Davies and Blaisdell cant be.lf you are not planning on developing Davies and are content on letting him watch games from the bench than trade him.Devlop your 2 99's and get someone for him.2yrs and counting on the 4th line how is that fair in his growth and future.Blaisdell a 97 as well package them up let them enjoy their last 2 years.

Any word on Miller?

Jacob Friend received an 8-game suspension for the slewfoot. Lovely, but that doesn't change the fact that Kitchener is without one of their top 6 players.

Since these types of suspensions are usually tied back to the severity of injuries inflicted they seem to start at 10 games so I would imagine that Miller may not be injured too bad.

^ But of course I've wrong before and will probably add another check to that list.

I think Davies could do well with more playing time. Definitely an unfortunate situation for him. Blaisdell I have not been impressed with.

I think we'll have a better idea if the Rangers are the top10 team the CHL says they are after tonight's game in Sarnia. It'll be tough to judge against the Petes and Spirit (who are playing in Erie the night before), but the Sting are off to a hot start like the Rangers. I could tell in Mississauga the guys had a hard time staying focused for the full 60 with little to no atmosphere in the building. Pretty much the same situation in Sarnia tonight. I would put my money on the Rangers if they were playing Sarnia at the Aud, but in a quiet rink the challenge will to play an intense and focused game for all three periods. Wonder who they pair Ferrari with..

You have to earn your way onto the higher lines. Davies is a decent player but just because he was a 1st round pick doesn't mean he gets moved up the depth chart automatically. The fact of the matter is that when we're 100% healthy, there isn't anyone he can bump off the top three lines based on his play.

MacInnis. Magyar. Llewellyn. Miller. Franzen. Bunnaman. Mascarin. Kohn. Robinson. I have Davies behind all these forwards on the depth chart. Henderson is ahead of him too but he may be the only guy Davies comes close to. Maybe. but Henderson is already showing more promise than Davies in his short time here. And if Meireles was here full time, he'd be ahead of him too.

I agree that it would be in Davies' best interest to be given a shot with another team. There just isn't room for him on our top nine.

That is exactly my point He deserves his chance to devefop just like everyone else.He getting no ice to prove himself and time will tell on his future.

What would Kitchener look for in return for a guy like Davies? Draft picks or a player?

Two options, really:

1) Use in a package with picks/other players for a star
2) Trade for draft picks and potentially take a bath if he breaks out (see: Shane Prince and Alex Aleardi trades)

Davies

I have a feeling that Mike Davies could be a bigger contributor if he had a bigger role. For some reason he has not been given that chance of playing consistently with higher skilled players. He scored 12 goals while playing 4th line minutes last season. He has always given a great effort, he hits and will fight when it's called for.

He was drafted first overall probably based on the 47 goals and 26 assists he got in 61 games. He also was battling mono that season. I would love to see him get a chance on the first or second line. I have a feeling he'd produce.

If he does get traded he will get more ice time and a more prominent role and will produce. I just wish he'd have that chance here. This is not a knock on the past or present coaches. They make the call and see the players in practices and off the ice too. Mike seems like a real team player from my view in the stands.

I'd be interested to see how many of those 12 goals came while playing on the 4th line. Yes, he's a fixture on the 4th line, but he's the first guy to move up off the 4th line in the event of an injury or ejection. He was the guy who moved up when Miller was injured, for instance.

And if many of those 12 goals came while filling in on the other lines, then yes, a move up would help his game. But if he moves up, who gets bumped out? On the Rangers' 2015-16 roster, you'd have a hard time finding a guy who's play dictates he is moved to the 4th line. Therefore, its likely that Davies' interests would be best served by dealing him to a team not as deep as our own.

And in the event of a trade, if and when his point totals go up, nobody should be whining that we shouldn't have traded him, as we did when guys like Aleardi, Prince, Sterk, Ming were dealt. Like Davies, they wouldn't have received the same minutes and line mates here that they did on their new teams.

Sometimes a trade is in the best interest of all parties involved and if Davies wants to play a more prominent role, then maybe a trade would be welcomed. If we get the return a first round pick in this league regularly brings, then that's great. But if we get a return that his value to our team was worth, then that's fine too.

Hey Even he averaged 6.9min/game..... The top forward had 25 goals with 3x the ice and played with top talent.... you do the math.

Davies is out injured again. I think he has missed half his Ranger career injured. He could possibly be traded down the road but the injuries don't make him as attractive.

I know our power play has been clicking and Mascherin is continually setting up guys for one timers but that should be reversed and Mascherin should be the one taking the one timer. He has such a quick release and hard shot and a lot of his set ups are missed or the guys take too long to shot. That 5 minute power play with at 2 minute included was obvious that he should be the shooter. I also don't think MacInnis should be used on the point, why not Roberts who sees the ice, has the patience and has the speed to keep the puck alive. Just my opinion.
