Do you think he’s a 61-67 point guy when not flanking Nathan Mackinnon’s 150 pts?
Nope
Like a player like Hyman isn’t a top scorer without McDavid/Matthews.

But, if you can’t keep pace - mentally and physically - you won’t last long on that line. Especially with Nate. Very high expectations of his line mates.

My point exactly he has never shown anything that would suggest he has what it takes to play 2 C. I'm not saying it wasn't good punt, all I'm saying is that this hole narrative of Dach returning to his former self or to what he was before is flawed because he never showed anything besides being drafted 3rd overall.

You're saying "he never showed anything besides being 3rd overall"

That's the hard part that makes me wonder if we were watching games in different universes. I was lukewarm on him until i saw him play that first season and then I got excited. It would be a shame if he can't get back on track after that major injury.

His first year showed promise but most of his success was on wing with NS. He didn’t prove capable of being a legit top 6c.

That’s why I think the trade is turning hard to be a failure. They thought he could be a 1b to Nick, well that isn’t happening. And on the wing, if he doesn’t get it turned around he isn’t the kind of guy you want in the bottom 6.

I’m sure Hugo is concerned with what they are seeing. His horrible play has been a major factor on how this season is going. Now they have to revisit the 2c position.

I can't fact check but iirc he didn't play with them after Christmas. Centering his own line he had 15 pts in 21 GP (starting on Jan 1 2023) so can we please stop discrediting him.

The naysayers largely weren’t watching the games when Dach was at his best under centre. You’ll notice that no one offers a breakdown of what was lacking in his game during the late stretch of that season, only reference to points.

I can fact check it and he did get 9 out of his 22 5v5 pts with NS. He played 41% of 5v5 with NS and CC.

22 pts 5v5 and 16 on PP.

Once again the majority of his success was with NS or on the PP with NS. He has yet to show he can be a 2c, that’s the reality, and it hurts.

We saw the same flashes of potential 2c in short spurts like Kirby in KK and AG but here we are backing looking for a real C.

And 7 of those were on the PP playing with guess who?
The same PP personnel who was bad last year? What if I told you Dach created those points? It can't be oh he sucks and most of his success came leaching off Caufield and Suzuki when 15 of his 38 points came for sure while he was not playing with the two of them. His secondary assist was low. He had 16 PPP which represents 42% of his points. Suzuki had 40% of his points via the PP last year. Why don't people discredit him too.

Stop rewriting the narrative and moving goal posts.

Again 7 of the 15 points were on the PP so not for sure while he was not playing with them. You are the one trying to move the goal posts.

Simple because NS is consistent yr in yr out and everyone who plays with NS seems to see an increase in productivity, weird?

NS makes guys better and is easily the best Habs player.

You mentioned he didn’t play with NS and CC until after Christmas and later say CC was out mid Jan. Kirby played 42% of his 5v5 with NS and CC so he did it before CC went out.

You know the opposite can be argued right? Suzuki barely improved his numbers in the year Caufield was hurt. Do you know why? Because he was stuck with weak wingers. The same wingers Dach had to elevate

The opposite can’t be said, he improved, carrying junk wingers. Without NS this team is done, lol.

Dach hasn’t elevated anyone, and trying to suggest otherwise is laughable. NS has and does. The reality NS is a bonafide NHL center and Kirby Dach hasn’t proved squat. His best output was on a line with NS and CC, and I showed the stats to prove it.

The reality is Dach sucks bad and this team needs to find a legit 2c desperately.

Agree with your take, but it's not "desperate". It's entirely possible the team knows he has an ailment and he is working through it, like CC last year early. He has value, as he has shown what he is capable of and has the size every team covets.. why sell him cheaply? Maybe Dach would be better served being groomed as a 3C depth top 6. Clearly he has lost a halfstep, and if that is permanent then he wont play in the NHL much longer. Shame really, so much potential, limited iq? Who knows.

I def want a 2C, but that wont happen until the draft or Summer acquisition. Unless buffalo wants out of Cousins contract, we're gonna have to wait till july
