Boulton for Luchanko straight swap. 😁
LOL, now don’t get me wrong I love the Allen trade with Guelph. But Mark really stepped up and paid a fairly hefty price for his guy. With Luchanko at the WJC it makes me quietly crossing my fingers that perhaps there is a Part Two to this trade? Many trades of WJC roster players are announced immediately after the Gold Medal game wouldn’t it be something if he were to land in London? Hmm …… either way we have an excellent team quite capable of going on a run all the way to the Memorial Cup. Another great season to be a Knights supporter!

Just doing some research. Could this end up being a similar price for Jett Luchanko? Keep in mind, Eduard Sale never came back to the OHL this year.

Could something like Evan Van Gorp and Noah Read and similar picks to the Eduard Sale trade be packaged together to make a deal happen? Who knows, but I think this could be good for both teams.

Not even close. Sale was an underachieving import who demanded a trade and would only accept a trade to the Rangers. Kitchener’s cupboard was nearly empty and had the Colts over a barrel. Morey and Scott were life and death to get into the Rangers lineup and were pretty much “throw ins” in the deal. The Colts had to take what the Rangers offered to get a deal done.

Barrie management has to be quietly chuckling that neither Sale or Savard are in the league this year or the deal looks that much worse.

Mike Farewell on the OHL podcast seems to think that the Knights will be going for Andrew Gibson.

I don't see it, but adding a #1 guy on top of what you already have would make it one of the best defenses I've ever seen in my years of watching the OHL.

From my understanding the Knights were interested in Andrew Gibson but different pieces were involved than the Cam Allen trade, and Cam Allen could be had before the Trade Freeze to help out our depleted roster. That’s why we went for Cam Allen. I think Cam Allen fills our Isaiah George hole quite well. Just need to fill our 2C with a player from Guelph Storm….

Maybe Gibson goes home to Windsor if Windsor doesn’t get Konnor Smith?

I don’t disagree with you. But could it be a similar scenario for the Knights…..

What if Luchanko wants to be traded, and on top of that, only a to the Knights? Remember he was a die hard Knights fan….

Nah, that's not the type of player Luchanko is... he was voted by the league as most sportsmanlike for a reason. He'll finish out his OHL career wherever... if in London I do think it would be a part two involving Hawery, another roster player, plus the limited picks. This would "outbid" another team's '08 (Vaughan, Wassilyn, Nesbitt - '07), etc. with the tiebreaker going to London (instead of ++ picks from another team) for consideration of the picks for Allen.

Edited to add: Though the Hunters haven't pushed all the chips in previously, they likely are this year as they have great recruitment possibilities ahead with the new NCAA rules. They can part with Hawery, build an all-star team, and still be fine in the future.

I wonder if Hunter retires after this year. 64 going on 65. Highly regarded by everyone as either the best or second best coach of all time in junior hockey with killer.

IMO 1 more championship and he has a better resume than kilrea. If they went crazy this year with making moves and saying screw the future- already getting Allen and potentially getting Luchanko/gibson and won the J Ross cup and the memorial cup- retiring on top at 65?

Nope.

Him and Mark are passionate, in the bar after the memorial cup loss the conversation went from hockey to tractors and farm sales.

When you are great at what you do and your ethic is to work hard to see the literal fruits of your labour, it’s hard to want to take a day off.

They should keep going till they can’t as per Kilrea!

No idea if the Knights or Luchanko are interested in trading for or playing for the other @StormWatcher
But it really has nothing to do with a sportsmanship award. One could easily win that and still have a preferred destination without harming his rep as the 2 are separate.

Can't wait til the 10th and all the speculation is over.

Buy Windsor buy, buy Erie buy, buy Kitchener buy is all I wanna see lol.
Would make for an exciting POs!

Naw, Dale will retire whenever he has the all time win record by an OHL coach. He’s a competitor and will want that record before he retires.
