Patience is not the strongest suit of this fan base. We'd jettison just about everyone at the first sign of trouble.

If we give up on him now, we risk giving him away at a huge loss of value and potentially watch him figure it out somewhere else. Even if he ends up busting, they should give him every opportunity to succeed. It’s not like he’s blocking anyone in the line up.
This. At 3.5 for 2 years in a rebuild what’s the point of trading him for cheap?

I'm 100% serious in saying I wouldn't even consider trading him even if he struggles all year, unless someone offers a package we can't refuse. I just can't see how with his skating, size and hands he wont become at the very least a valuable middle 6 player at some point.

I’m not saying you’re a Slaf hater.
I’m saying that you try to take a shot at people having common sense by wanting to be patient with Dach, saying when people defend a player with ‘’essays’’ that means he’s toast.
Same happened in the Slaf thread and the ‘’haters’’ like you called it, were wrong about him.
17 games should have been more than enough time to get his timing, confidence back. He simply isn't competing. He has to come off the Power Play, plain and simple.

He should have his legs in game shape. 17 games isn't enough time to show compete and intensity?
Is another 17? How about another 17 after that? How many stretches of 17 games should we wait?
Seems like he's just not getting something.

Starting to feel the same way. Chicago who was about to start a rebuild trades a 21 y/o 3rd overall, 6'4 220 RH center? Odd.

Talking as if he didn’t tore his ACL last season and there was no reasons why he would be struggling now.
I’m guessing you thought a player who already missed time in his development and who missed a complete year after a surgery would be in peak form just like that. That’s not reality, sorry to say.
Why did Chicago give up on a player drafted 3rd overall? Big RH center and only 21?
All I am asking is where the intensity and effort is.
If he is healthy enough to play 18 minutes per night through 17 games then why not compete? The game in Minnesota was very revealing and I am a huge fan of this kid.

Reality is that sometimes when you never have an extended period of good play, for whatever reason, you don't go on to become a good player.
We all hope he figures it out, but it's getting late in the day.
Yeah but Newhook skates hard every shift. He just needs better players to play with.

Compete seems like a new word this season.
Not every player are gonna look like Gallagher when they play.
He hits, try to make plays, he’s trying to drive to the net, he was behind the play a lot to start the season. He looks low on confidence, that’s about it.
Newhook is playing with CC right now, unless he's put with Suzuki/Slaf, he can't get better players than that on this team.
We see the game different, he looks disinterested to me. I hope he finds his groove soon because he is eating alot of top 6 and PP minutes and is delivering nothing. Heineman who barely plays has better production.
It's been 2 games...hopefully the results start to show soon.

More seems like the simple answer. Why is 17 the number ? He missed a whole year. It will take time.

I don't see this whatsoever. He's an absolute ghost and Kent should stop making deals with Colorado. He got bent over.
