I don't agree, you lose 2/3 of your face offs you end up chasing the play for 25 seconds. Can't generate a whole lot when by the time you get the puck your shift is over. No #2 Center can be effective winning under 40% of his face offs.
If we assume that 25s per faceoff lost stat then we are talking about Dach's faceoff skills this year costing us 2min of play out of a total of 240 minutes of game time, in other words 0.8% of the ice time.

It really just isn't that big a deal especially considering it's almost assuredly going to improve with time, on top of which a large percentage of faceoff wins aren't clean wins and so the win/loss is based on the wingers winning their battle.

How many goals do you think get scored off the draw...
and If you aren't getting any while giving them up?

Time is not a factor nor is it why they keep track of face offs.

Still 0 concern
His 2 future wingers aren't even on his freaking line yet ffs
Armia is NOT the winger for him, MSL has that one wrong atm
The sooner 1 of Hein or Kap get placed next to him the better
My man Heineman deserves a center that wins face offs though. And Dach with Newhook the lefty to take them strong side leaves out Heineman. Kap 2C would be a bad look for the old Dacher at the wing I imagine.

We're going to need more from Dach if we're going to find ourselves in the mix this year. Patience is going to be needed though as he continues to adjust back to the game at this level.

1A, -4, 19% on draws through 4 games probably isn't giving him a lot confidence. We need him to find his swagger.

We can easily get around that by just not sending the Dach line out for defensive zone draws. Like seriously a big part of Evans game is that we use him in those situations.

Time lost because of a faceoff was brought up by the poster I quoted. If your puzzled by it being a factor then take it up with them.

I still think Dach will be the man. He showed he can control the play. He’s missed some games to injury and he is just finding his way back, might be being overly cautious to not get reinjured, but as time moves on the Kirby we all enjoyed shall return. He hasn’t looked good so far, but it’s only a handful of games.

Heine and Kap probably want to play with someone who wins faceoffs so they get to touch the puck once in awhile. Dach might have to be moved to wing at some point.

Blaming Dachs slow start on Newhook and Armia is interesting considering people were penciling him as a sure top 6 C , shouldn't he elevate the boys?

I'm sure he will get going soon , not too worried
He managed to make Hoffman and (who was it, Drouin?), look like NHL caliber players. Not worried his game will pick up, he's shown flashes.

Worst game from him I’ve ever seen.

Two nice plays at the end though so that was nice. Hopefully he bounces back quickly ‘cause we need him.

Yeah he doesn't look good at all. He kills PP1. We've been putting a lot of the blame on Matheson but Dach is in Suzuki's old spot on the wall and it is NOT working at all.

His decision making is 2 steps behind, he keeps trying to force the cross-seam pass that never works. If he gets pressured, he loses it and you know he's never going to try to shoot so that option's not even being accounted for.

I like Dach as a player but that's too much for him right now. It's another unintended consequence of Laine's injury, but something has to change there.

Dach should play 10 minutes on the 4th line until he is back in game shape.
Dach is a mess right now. Night and day difference from last camp and season. I thought he was playing nagging injury there once. A step slower from last year. I can beat him on a faceoff. Took stupid penalty killed a powerplay.

Tore both MCL and ACL, maybe another full year before himself? Without him going to be long season.

Indeed.

Same type of posters rushing to judgement on Dach were the types up in arms that we "missed" on UFAs like Stamkos (0pts, -3 in 4 games).

Sample size is a bridge too far for some.

Dach will be fine. He's showing some great flashes. NHL is the toughest hockey league in the world to compete in, Kirby has played 7 games in the last 18 months... It's gonna take a bit for his timing, rhythm & confidence to get rolling.

Every game he's comes out of healthy is a net positive. If he's performing the same way after 20-30 games, then sure, some concern makes sense... But right now? Some posters just have no clue what this level of competition is all about.

That kind of injury can easily be a career killer even in sports that require a fraction of the leg strength as hockey.

I wouldn't be surprised if his skating regresses by a lot forever. And if he can miraculously come back to 100% it might take a long time.

Needs to play on PP2 or as the screener on PP1.

One positive thing I'll say is I've noticed how once he and Armia had control on the wall they were dominant physically. Dach looks stronger he just needs to get his pacing up
