Here's last year's comparison of the league, plan to redo and post at the end of next month:

The Habs current 23 man roster averages:

Ht: 6'1
Wt: 201.5
Age: 25.8
Actually I meant the 6'1" 200lb forward is Optimal.. have you done one by F, D+G?

Maybe I'm biased but I don't think I've ever seen anything like this before injury wise. Past 2 seasons and now 2 games into year 3 we have been absolutely decimated with injuries. To key guys not just scrubs.

What the hell did we do to deserve this. This just feels cruel for no reason.

It feels like it's always like this with the Habs.

Did you check the post I linked? Scroll way down and that comparison should be there as well as each team averages last December 1st. Interesting to see who was the tallest and heaviest team at the time.

Kirby Dach lost can't be overstated.

I think he was emerging as our better and most important player. Don't forget that he is two years younger than Suzuki.

His injury is very bad and i am not in expert on the subject but i don't know how it could affect his career. Going forward, in a team-building approach, i wouldn't count on Dach being one of my top six C. He is too unreliable with the injury.

I would then put all of my focus to acquire an RFA like Necas or Pettersson if possible, or quite simply the next Dubois/Tkachuk.

I would view Dach as Suzuki-Caufield RW going forward. Therefore, we can focus on patching the hole he left and if Dach can't overcome injuries going forward the RW hole is easier to fill than his actual spot.

It f***ing sucks.

Even with a top pick, which is essentially a given and should be spent on a forward, bolded will be a necessity in the near future.
We're stretched thin as is filling the lineup with decent quality top6ers the minute we lose one of the better ones it's essentially game over.
We need one if not two elite talent emerging at F, whether through draft/trade/dev.

you have some good data in that link... So I see the League averages, I see MTL avg, I see it broken down by position (for league only).. Since you have all the data in Excel (I assume) would be cool to add another column for the "F position" by team? I never really looked into that much, but it makes sense G 6'2, D 6'1, F 6'0 ---- Im curious as to what MTL avg TOP 6 Height/weight ratio is, as this is the key element in understanding the team.. a lot of 4th liners are 6'3 which mat skew the results.

or maybe a more finite data set = Top 6F, top 4 D - so 10 players/team

Man you think about it , that's atleast 12 months , not only the end of the regular season .
That's why I was trying to explain to people how this happening in october and having 12 months is more than enough time to have a good recovery from this, instead of it happening in march or something and he inadvertently becomes one of these guys trying to rush the process of coming back in 6-7 months only to do more damage.

But no yeah "what difference does it make" was what I was told lol

Here's the Habs opening roster, you should be able to copy/paste if you want to work with it. I don't have the averages by team for last year beyond what you see posted. Send me a pm if you would like to research this yourself and maybe I could help.

Of course this is bad, but I'm very confident that he is going to be in a very good shape next year, he is going to be on a mission, missing hockey will be the motivation to put his best season.

I really like Dach, he is only 22 years old, so i'm not worry with this injurie, he will bounce back and have a great career with after his recovery.

Can't wait to see him next year!

This injury pisses me off , probably more so than any other in the last 10 years or so.

Why ? Because it looked like we may finally have found our big center with skills and size on the verge of blossoming into what he was supposed to become. And then bang injury and season over. One year of experience down the drain.

Why can't we have nice things in MTL ? Goddammit we literally just got Aaron Rodgers'ed

It's obviously you're faulting the type of life you lead? That's my honest guess? Am I right?

I don't know ? What is that supposed to mean lol ?

All i'm saying is that we've been looking to find a big top 2 center for almost 30 years and now that it seems that we may finally have found one (who kept progressing and looking better and better) the guy get seriously injured for the season in the 2nd game of the year.

It's unfortunate and annoying that we wont be able to watch him play until next season. No need to get all philosophical about it.

Well,

On the plus side, his wrist will have some more time to heal.
