I'll admit I did not like his game as much since the team started slumping. Stopped doing some of the things he had been doing in terms of zone entries, forcing his game instead of waiting and going to the net.

it was SUS when that failure of a rebuild in Chicago wanted him gone ... why would they let a stud C go?

I wouldn't put much stock into Chicago trading him, Davidson is a clown who has no idea what he's doing.

He let a 24 year old Dylan Strome go for literally nothing, he's a 6'3" centre averaging a point per game this year. He also traded a 23 year old Brandon Hagel for later first round picks who will likely never be close to as good as Hagel.

Because of their shitty rebuild and not keeping any respectable players around, their franchise player has been stuck playing with guys like Nick Foligno, Ilya Mihkeyev and something called Landon Slaggert this year.

Chicago is just so well run, if only the habs could see the future like them. How can we trade guys like strome and Hagel away?

I believe we are better off with Romanov, so Kent can also make some really poor moves at times with his decisions. Also I'm certain they were going all in for the Bedard tank and let it all hang out in Chicago and yes it has backfired.

Did he play much at center for the Hawks?

I'm not entirely sure, but he wasn't exactly trending for stardom there either when we landed him

Wasn't Dach drafted and developed as a center, and doesn't he get to play behind a real number 1 in Suzuki?
If he was effective in that role in Chicago, we aren't seeing it here. It also begs the question(I have asked this before) of why the Hawks would be willing to trade a young center when entering their rebuild.

Legitimate criticisms of Dach aside, I find that a
weak question as by that logic no good young players would ever be traded under any set of circumstances. That is clearly not the case. Many great young players have been traded, e.g.

Romanov
Sergachev
McDonagh

;-)

But also Jacub Voracek, Filip Forsberg, Milan Michalek, Brayden Schenn, Nick Leddy, Nino Niecerreiter, and Tyler Seguin.

Yeah, we have traded some good young players which didn't turn out to be the best decisions but we haven't been quite as lucky with the returns we got for those players. Dach, Gomez, and Drouin holy crap that is bad.

The Hawks traded him because they badly mismanaged his wrist injury and there was bad blood on both sides. He’s played well for us when healthy but has a fluke injury derail him last year. This was no more predictable than Heineman getting hit by a car.
