Kingston Frontenacs 2024 25 Season Thread Part Iii

So a chop at the leg goes uncalled in front of the refs?? Isn’t that like reffing 101 to call that? Little confused by that.

Went down easy cause Eliasson is 6’7

I’ve noticed this too. However there was an audio of cooper asking how Henderson was doing and Henderson said “pretty damn good” and laughed about it

Probably just hasn’t made trip down yet
Good to hear re: Henderson. I figured they wouldn't risk it knowing they don't get a comp pick of he defects, but I wonder if he shows up on Thursday and they give him his own game to be shown on the jumbotron.

As for the refs, it's the playoffs - if every chop at the legs was called there would be no 5 on 5 at all except for maybe the the first 15 seconds of the game.

Uronen, as much as love the guy and his skill, has the chance to be Finland's first diving Olympian since 2008. I have never seen a Frontenac player go down so easily and it is eventually going to catch up with him. I'm honestly kind of surprised the refs haven't caught on yet. He's such a good player and I hate seeing him drop as easily as he does trying to get on the PP. I fully understand trying to sell a call, especially with OHL refs, but he needs to tone it down a bit.

Have to remember that Henderson is from Sarnia, and is still in school so it likely just didn’t make logistical sense to make the 6hr drive to Kingston at this time.

My point is- the first 2 games all of those penalties were called on kingston. Why complain when we have some calls go our way.

As long as he doesn’t get called I’m all for it. Londons played that same way for years and look at them.

I thought about the long drive aspect but somehow it completely slipped my mind that he'd still be in school - that makes total sense

U18 Draft is tonight starting at 5:30. Fronts select 15, 35 and 55 if we take a goalie in first 2 rounds.

Just was looking at ice time.
Soto has went from playing around 20-23Mins a game to playing 6 mins a game.

Definitely would like to see the PP2 used a little bit more with how badly PP1 has been struggling.
PP1 had 6 shifts on the PP without a single shot on net.
Tough to score when the puck is not making it to the goalie.

U18 draft tonight - not somewhere Kingston has had a lot of success. Even though it's a crapshoot there's been some pretty decent players come out of it - Kingston's only had 4 players see OHL ice, and two of them were fewer than 20 games

2019 - Aidan Spooner - 19 GP, .885% SV- likely would've played more if not for COVID
2020 - Paul Hughes - 106 GP, 15G, 9A - I would say Kingston's best U18 pick. Versatile player - played D when they hit a bad stretch of injuries
2022 - Nolan Ling - 12 GP, 2A - undersized D, never really given a great shot, ended up playing a season and a half in the Q
2023 - Riley Clark - 61 GP, 8G, 4A - likely will pass Hughes as their best U18 pick next year, I imagine he'll get a fair bit more opportunity as one of the only '06s on the team. Wicked shot and willing to scrap.

With how many players they're losing next year hopefully they pick someone that can step in immediately and give them some minutes.

#92 was still getting time on PP#1 but relegated to 4th line if you can make heads or tails out of that.

Do you consider PP1 struggling :dunno:
2/16 vs Sudbury
1/9 vs Barrie
3/25 = 12% (2nd worst in CHL of teams still actively in playoffs behind Baie-Comeau in the Q)

Need more from some of the boys, for example take a look at line combo of 14,15,91.
As a line and some PP opportunity they have 60 shots on net with 1 goal.
14 & 91 together have 50+ shots on net without a goal

Personally it's hard to believe there wasn't more in-game changes being made by coaching staff.
Kudos to other boys putting the puck in the net and helping out with secondary scoring #12 & #44.

First round u18 pick- second RHD selected overall

Second round u18 pick- 3rd LHD selected overall

Love the bonavota guy- played on Gabriel Schmidt’s team and like Schmidt- late 08 birthday so therefore not eligible for 2026 NHL draft- but is for 2027.

Bonavota RHD and Schmidt LHD I wonder if that was a line and impressed cooper?? I expect both on team next year just depends on where in lineup they fall

Don’t think Austin makes it- perhaps year after

Good news for the fronts. They’ll need as much help as they can get next year. Get the Uronen twins and maybe a goalie to go with Betts? Or a centre to play top 9

I would probably prefer an import F and then pick up a cheap 06/07 goalie that can play 25ish games while Betts takes the reins. An import goalie would probably want more than back-up minutes.

Sounds like Henderson and some of the other draft picks will be at the game tonight - tickets are selling pretty quickly so it wouldn't surprise me if this is the biggest crowd of the year, save for maybe the school day game.

Sometimes in game changes aren't made because other lines are clicking and you don't want to fool with that. 9-68-12 and 88-93-8 are doing what they need to do. I agree 14/15 need to be more impactful. Hopkins has been flying out there, but hasn't been clicking with either of his linemates - maybe put Dervin with him and Willis have Miedema drop to 4th

The Uronen twins are a forward and a d and would be here for atleast the 2 years that’s why I’m hoping cooper takes them.

could go anywhere with a third pick if the rumours true about the 3 imports.

I feel like they’ll go vaccari even though that’s not what I would choose.

Awesome! They’ll need it

I've also heard that OA dress limit moving up to 4

yes true saw that a couple weeks before. Haven’t heard much. I wonder if the OHL puts it all out on 1 post? Find it weird I haven’t heard much since about that but it would make sense. Perhaps more OA/Imports- guys like Loshko/Petrov etc

Yeah I do remember reading talks about the OA limit, but I think what I saw was that OA goalies wouldn't count - if that's the case it would massively increase the chances Vacarri is back.

I haven't looked into the Uronen twins but my concern would be Kingston picking one, and some other team taking the other. I know the import draft is usually more or less predetermined but there's still a risk another team goes rogue.

Absolutely would be tough enough to get rid of vaccari as it is- we have seen how hard it is for cooper to say goodbye to goalies being a former one himself.

I don’t see why another team would do that. They’ve probably played their whole life together and there’s no reason to screw up imports leaving their country to play hockey here and then if one ends up in the WHL and one ends up in kingston they would be a big head scratcher.

I would assume whoever picks the first one can get the second one too. Heard a rumour about potential trades too? Not sure if that’s true but both uronen twins would be pretty highly prized. Anttoni has scored well at every level so far. Eelis has done great too as a d man. Both have gotten some games in this year with the u20 league- clear they need to go to one next year. With how well Tuomas has done here i would have to assume they play chl unless pro becomes available somewhere but i doubt it as they’re still young

What does 1 player "flying" have to do with the success of a line? I like his speed but he cannot dig the puck out of a corner and plays "soft" which will not get the job done in playoffs.
I was more suggesting that line isn't clicking at all and no changes were made.
PP isn't clicking and no changes were made until playoff game #7.

I hope the boys can secure another win tonight and turn this into a brand new series. Should be a great turnout with most people having tomorrow off.
Dill Pickle superfans can hopefully hype the crowds

I didn't say his flying has anything to do with the success of a line, and in fact said that the line wasn't clicking and changes should have been made.

I agree him flying doesn’t do anything. That whole line is supposed to give secondary scoring and they have failed doing that this whole playoff run so far. You can have your chances all you want but the reality is they need to score.

Absolutely Mann can’t be picking favourites in the playoffs. Keep the top 2 lines and switch up lines 3/4. If a guy like Clark is having a good game play him more same goes for Miedema, Soto, Hopkins, Willis, Dervin etc.

Keep top 2 lines and go with Miedema/Dervin/Soto then Clark/Hopkins/Willis for a game.

Need to go back to having Hopkins pp1. Not as talented as Willis or Soto probably but doesn’t matter you want guys that are familiar with eachother and he was on PP1 for 3/4 of the year. Not a clue why he’s off now.

I know his flying has nothing to do with it but because that's two people have said it does I am pasting what I actually typed "Hopkins has been flying out there, but hasn't been clicking with either of his linemates..." nothing about his flying doing anything more than what I said, that he is flying out there - there can be two things in one happening here.....

I'd say Mann wants to justify some of the trades and keep giving minutes to get these players rolling hopefully / finally.

Can someone who knows technicalities about players cards answer this? #10 is still playing with a cage and is a student at SAC finishing up grade 12 and is committed to Penn State, his dad was captain at Colgate?

My season ticket holder friend said he won't be on the Fronts next year and will pursue education.
Anyone know?

I've been wondering about the cage too so I can't answer that, but I'm pretty sure he's committed to the Fronts for next year. I think his original commitment was for next year but Elite Prospects has his commitment pushed back to 2026-27, and I think the Fronts said when he signed that he'd play next year.
