Kingston Frontenacs 2024 25 Season Thread Part Iii

Looksl ike player inuries are olayng a big part of the playoffs
Always do. Always a couple big injuries in the playoffs every year. Part of the game every team goes though some sort of adversity(except for London lol)
Is it me or did Hopkins not even seem to be playing I don't think I heard his name mentioned by Gilchrist
He was playing but didn’t have a big game so that’s probably part of the reason you didn’t hear him

Good troll. Easter Sunday and game 1 of the battle of Ontario same time and day.

Last game had 5400.
Wasn’t meant to be a troll comment at all. Good team and nice arena sad to see it not full in the playoffs. Crazy how sensitive some of you people are.

I've said it before but as everyone does, I say a lot of stupid shit on this forum - but me saying if Heyes was on the team past the deadline it would be a disappointment has to be number one.

I can't imagine where this team would be without him, a shrewd FA pickup in Pickell and probably their best deadline add in Hay.

Everyone was saying the same thing about Heyes. Nobody could’ve predicted this. Very happy to be wrong and good for him- he is a great kid and has worked very hard here his 4 years in kingston.

I agree pickell and hay were amazing pickups. I like hay more than Willis. What a player he is.

Lots of things to think about when your team has been out for almost a month
Pretty arrogant comment from a fan of a team that hasn’t made it to the finals ever. Perfectly fine with my team not making the playoffs, happens when you hang banners.

If fans had an issue than why was it selling out in a rebuilding year? I’d rather have a full building with charms than a big new empty one.
Hard not to with less than 4000 seats. Fronts had 5400 last home game.

Easter Sunday and game 1 of battle of Ontario. Use common sense.

The fans didn’t go in Peterborough when they were losing either. And that was over several years.

As you said the Fronts haven’t made it to the finals so expecting fans to drop their Easter plans and ignore the Leafs-Sens game was pretty naive. I’m also not sure why you bothered to make that comment in the Fronts chat anyways. It’s not like the Fronts and Petes and their fans are good friends.

Kingston averaged seven more fans per game this year than Peterborough. Peterborough was rebuilding and had a bad start and Kingston was going for it.

Well the Pete’s had a run of bad management for a number of years but attendance hasn’t been an issue for a long time. The Petes finished last the last two years and sold out most nights. I honestly meant no ill-will when I commented. I love OHL hockey and like to see ALL rinks packed especially in the playoffs. I’ve been to many games in Kingston (and watched on tv) over the years and only seen it sold out on game seven back when the Petes came back from 3-0. I’ve never understood why you guys haven’t been able to fill the rink on a regular basis given the good teams you’ve had. I’m sorry if my comment was taken the wrong way. I was more looking to engage with fans not start a fight.

Just trolling that’s all it is.

Pete’s fans looking for something to do other than watch other teams still playing.

I’d do the same if I lived in boring old Peterborough with nothing to do

How many fans has Peterborough been getting in the playoffs this year? Let’s compare those numbers. Have a good night.

Lots of empty seats in Oshawa for game 6 of that series too - - 4700 compared to 6000 on Thursday for game 4. It’s disappointing to not have a full house, but also understandable given that it’s Easter Sunday and Game 1 of the playoffs for Toronto.

I was happy to see Kingston pull it out in overtime if for no other reason than to extend the series and continue to wear each other down while Oshawa gets an extra couple days of rest.

Looking ahead from a Oshawa perspective, there’s not a huge difference between the two teams - - certainly not anything close to the difference between London and the Kitchener/Windsor winner. And personally speaking, the drive to Kingston is pretty much equivalent to the drive to Barrie for me so I don’t have much preference for who wins on Tuesday.

Regardless of whether it’s Kingston or Barrie, the Eastern final is going to be a rowdy one.

That’s fair. Don’t worry about it. The attendance is a sensitive topic, one that was used as a ribbing point by Wolves fans in the first round (though their attendance ironically ended up being even lower than ours), and one that is also rooted in poor management and ownership over the years.

This topic gets debated at least 10 times a year as to the root cause, and as a long time Fronts fan I end up reminding the newer fans that it isn’t because of the current situation that fans don’t go, it’s that many got turned off over the years due to bad ownership and never came back (and probably won’t again until this team wins the title or at least goes to the finals).

And I’ve seen the same situation play out in pretty much every other OHL city at some point including London. When a team is run poorly people won’t attend.

Easter Sunday games are always a tough draw as are thanksgiving games.
Also not a fan of back to back G5/G6 games with 4 hour commutes after overtime games.
The quick turnaround impacts the quality of hockey.
Watching that 2nd period in Kingston last night was probably one of the worst periods of hockey i have seen this season.

I wonder what would have happened if Kingston listened to Donnie from Oshawa and used Vaccari instead of Schenkel these past 2 games Lol.

As an Oshawa fan, I am personally rooting for Kingston tomorrow. Hopefully see you guys in the Eastern Finals fellas.

I think it will depend on Hilly being able to play tomorrow or not.
I think Barrie’s got it if he’s able to go after that injury last night and is close to 100%.
