Miedema admittedly I got caught up thinking how he was playing early into he year where he was playing the more power forward game that he did in the NB series last year but thinking about it he hasn't played like that in a while.

For Battaglia I guess it depends on the definition of stirring it up - I'd love him to be more physically engaged and throw a couple hits, but honestly I'd rather him focus on the defensive side of the game first - if the physicality comes with that then perfect.

I think a lot of it is my mindset that some players have that grit in them and some don't and it's not something that you can teach, so if someone doesn't naturally have that side of the game in them - good luck flipping that switch.
What we don't know about Battaglia is what Calgary wants him to do. Do they want him to develop his scoring touch and be an offensive threat? The Flames have the troublemakers they need scoring.

The challenge really is tht you do not have that line that you can send out to lay defensive hockey and you need the offence Ideally, you would have a player that can play a 200 game on the tie to cover for his defensive oops.

I think Barrie, London, Oshawa have shown that Kingston would be better with two bigger middle six forwards, one particularly good a face punching.

Expect a rough stretch losing McGowan for a bit. (He’s on crutches)
And Pinner and Uronen leaving later this week.

Assuming they are looking, any idea who they're looking at to fill in on D since they only have the 5 available signed?

During the game he was doing laps in a walking boot.
The fact that he is already putting weight on it is promising and likely means no break and just a bad bruise

Gotta be careful I don’t say anything here so I get banned on yet another forum but what a game by the fronts. Glad they finally bounced back after a tough few opponents the last week or two. Great game by Soto and burns. Burns 2 goals and 2 assists and +4 and there is STILL slow people in my section heckling the guy and they have some sort of obsession over Battaglia and he didn’t even get a point this game (or against Barrie) that probably set them off with him getting 2G and 1 assist in the third period.

+25 on the year and Battaglia -1 despite being on one of the top teams in the league so far and being 17 points ahead of burnsie.

Hey guys ! If anyone that has watched a lot of Burns could comment on his play, improvements and projections id be curious to hear that out! Thanks !

The most visible improvement has been his discipline by far.
He is taking Troy’s guidance and doing what was asked of him controlling his temper and becoming a leader.
He is making better decisions in his own end and not turning the puck over in high danger area as he did in the past.
Those are probably 2 of the biggest changes I’ve noticed in Burnsy.

Thats good to hear, do you guys feel hes got the tools to carve a role in the NHL? Much appreciated!

More boredom on an ugly Monday morning so I decided to do an update of the last couple Fronts drafts - the main one that could be worth keeping an eye on from the 2023 draft is Nolan Turnbull. Slightly undersized RD (5'11" 181lbs) with decent offensive output and was recently named to the Canada East roster for the Jr A challenge.

What in the world is happening. Andoni Fimis (Panos’ brother) just got signed by the London Knights? I thought we had his rights still since we drafted him and didn’t trade him?? Unless there’s a trade to be announced and the knights jumped the gun on that?

Hopefully someone with more knowIedgs than me can comment, but think there's a limit of 50 players that a team can keep on their reserve list, so they can't keep players indefinitely.

Just based off a rough count, I think with everyone from the 23 and 24 drafts (excluding Malhotra), they have 49 players, meaning they'd have had to relinquish the rights to pretty much everyone from the 22 draft.

Either way that sucks, not sure how much of an impact player he'll be but I can understand why he'd want to go to London over Kingston...

Didn’t know this! Thank you. With them having 49 players between the 23 and 24 does that mean #50 is from the 2020 draft? Paul ludwinski?

Whether it is you or someone else clarifying this I would appreciate that.

It would make sense if they’re protecting ludwinski obviously as he has 15 games played in the AHL and 1 assist. 20 total between the end of last year and this year so far and 1 point, 6 pins and a combined -4

Just checked also and he has the fewest points on the team for players that have played more than 2 games this year

If they've kept Ludwinski's rights that would make sense that he's #50 (assuming I counted the others correctly) - I suppose it technically could be from the 2021 draft but there's no one there worth keeping.

I get it's just a non-Canada WJC pre-tournament but it's kind of surprising how many tickets are still available for the USA Slovakia game next weekend.

They had a solid crowd for the teddy bear toss, third highest this year after school day and the London game.

Hopefully some trades post Xmas will draw a bigger crowd.

Kingstons arena is a concert venue, that’s why it’s so bland and not even the seats are painted black and yellow.

If they want to make it more of a hockey venue and for instance put their 2 east division banners up. It’s not much but it’s something.

Team is definitely not the problem- they’re great this year. Kingston fans won’t show though unless we have team in first or in the chl rankings or are deep in the playoffs.

So many fans are such casuals that they have the projected first overall pick coming to the arena and they don’t even know it. Hell they didn’t even show much when wright was here and he was exceptional status and projected to go first up until a month or two from the draft

If it’s about fans I think the move that would fill some seats is Jett Luchanko from Guelph but not sure they can get that one done without an 08 first

When USA came to kingston and played Sweden on Dec 23 2015 they had a little over 4000 (4029) Not a bad crowd but should be a lot higher considering these were some of the guys playing: Auston Matthews, William Nylander, Brandon Carlo, Williamson Karlsson, Adrian Kempe, Nick Schmaltz, Dylan Larkin, Alex Tuch, Thatcher Demko, Zach Werenski. Lots of NHL talent and the first overall pick in Matthews.

Played Germany too with I think Leon Draisaitl too on the team but I’m not sure where to get the stats for that game

Thought this was pretty funny about what they put for the fronts. Sums up the situation perfectly.

Don’t show a certain someone this though 🫣
I go to every game and have for many years, I even get to a lot on the road, but the casual fan in Kingston will not show up until there has been a winner. Not just doing well in regular season. I honestly believe until they have some sort of championship - Eastern Conference even...

Major Junior is community driven. Habit forming. If you can motivate people to the rink and give them good entertainment, they come back more often.

The Frontenacs are not part of the community. They have done a poor job pushing the Frontenacs to the forefront of the Kingston community. The Peterborough Petes are at the forefront of the community in Peterborough. Same with Oshawa. The Frontenacs? No identity in the community. Just another entertainment option of which there are many.

I agree. Getting to the finals would be our championship lol. I have said this on here the past few years.

Not sure why they don’t ever hang up banners either they have 2 or 3 east division titles and none of them are hung up.

Also the arena is more of a concert venue where we don’t even have painted seats. If they took some spray paint and painted the seats some people may take the fronts more seriously. If they ever won the east and made it to the finals (finally) I would certainly hope they hang that up atleast

I think because the city has a hand in the management (even more starting this year) it may be harder than before to get more Fronts themes in the rink. I think it would be great, even if it is just the middle sections.
