Poole back, just Callens out - although I might argue this is their ideal lineup with Cavallin in
I agree. Just really unfortunate imo they put Hopkins back on the 4th line after seemingly finding his game the last couple of games though. He’s gonna be good. Regardless hope they win today they need the wins here. Lots of 4 point games the next bit here

I really hope Poole isn't out with another concussion, I don't wanna speculate because I was looking away when he got hit but with the way he left the ice plus his history it's not a good sign - if it is a nother concussion as much as I love him as a player I hope he hangs them up, he's too young to have as many concussions as he's had.

Other than that - another unreal game. Towards the end Ottawa start taking some subtle jabs and Kingston did a good job not over reacting and taking extra penalties. I'm not sure if I'm still sold on a full on buy, but if they can get some one that will be back next year, whether as an OA or an impact 05 (unlikely given the price, IMO Hopkins should be untouchable), but an OA upgrade on Callens would be a welcome move.

They should upgrade Callens, Poole and Get an actual Primary caliber goalie. Vaccari isn’t it - he’s to small and it’s so easy to snipe him over the shoulders.

I have never seen a player leave as many games with head injuries as I have Poole.
He often puts himself in vulnerable positions and falls awkwardly into the boards.
This team is a couple tweaks away from being a playoff contender now that they have bought into Troy’s systems.

I agree with callens or get rid of him and bring in an oa backup to help vaccari out some. I agree about Poole and he never used to be like that only this year and the last bit of last year. Really sad to see a player go out like this.

As for vaccari he keeps them in games sometimes. Sometimes he take a weak one yeah you’re right but other times he looks like prime hasek with the amazing saves. Oh and this is only his second year. Kid also played for team Canada u17s before. I don’t think it’s time to give up on him just because he lets in the odd weak one lol. Every single junior goalie is like that.

you could tell right from the get go that was Cameron’s game plan lol. Didn’t work too well for them though.

I agree I would welcome an upgrade preferably on d as they’re losing 2 of their best next year due to aging out.

Hopkins is for sure untouchable unless a guy like Barlows calibre comes up but highly highly doubt that happens.

I seriously think this team will surprise a lot of people here in the second half. I hope brantford sells if they do I think the division is wide open for the fronts to take it

Btw— 9 out of a possible 10 points vs Ottawa this year.

I don’t see Brantford selling with how weak the east is.
A couple smart moves could give Oshawa, Brantford, Sudbury, Kingston or Mississauga the edge needed to win the east.
I don’t see Ottawa as a contender and Peterborough will be selling off.
It’s hard to say who gets in between Niagara, Barrie and Peterborough once the dust settles post deadline.

I do believe Cooper has been convinced to potentially be a buyer now though.

Battaglia has evolved into a premiere power forward. Opposing dmen have trouble controlling him this year. Imagine what he will be like next year! e must be working his way up the NHL draft boards. Also the Ludwinski-Soto-Battaglia line is great to watch.
I agree he’s definitely taken the eyes of some scouts I’m sure. And this off season even though he last he worked on his skating lots clearly, if he does that again I’m sure he will be that much better. Soto might get drafted but I think the more likely option is that he gets a FA invite to a rookie camp

Not a full on sell, maybe just Donovan. They’re the team to watch imo.

I wonder if they’ll sell ludwinski- you gotta think his trade value is through the roof right now

If they are going to try to win the division then they may need Ludwnski.

Personally i see Brantford doing a minor sell Xhekaj will get some interest I am sure.

I fhe Fronts can figure out the defence and goaltending with mionor tweaks. The I think they might contend with Brantford.

I see Sudbury doing major Buy and Mississauga only doing small moves that will help them next year.

I would not cash in and go for it the west is just too powerful and there is no guarantee that Saginaw is going to wind the west

The move for Kingston imo is an ‘04 D that can be one of a 1st or 2nd pair next season as an OA. McCoy stands out.
I agree.

I have been looking at guys like Jacob Leblanc on sarnia, Donovan McCoy on Peterborough, Matthew mayich on Ottawa(don’t think he will make pro next year), Luca Marelli on Oshawa, Tristan Bertucci on Flint, Kashawn Aitcheson on Barrie and Spencer Sova on Erie as some good options here.

I don’t expect all of them to be up for grabs but I expect all of them to be back for next year and be some of the top defencemen in the league

I agree they may need ludwinski to win the division but I still think they could get at the very least second place in the division without him.

All comes down to the next bit to decide if they go all out this year or if they save it for next year. I feel it would be better to blow the brains out next year.

There are a few good options above. I think you can forget about Aitcheson and Bertucci though.
That is unless you’re thinking along the lines of Bertucci, Slavicek for Hopkins, Chromiak.

As I said I don’t expect all to be up for grabs. But those teams there barrie and flint I don’t see them doing anything next year really anyways so they might sell those guys earlier for a bigger return, also have a feeling Eduard sale might get shopped here as barrie isn’t going for it this year clearly

sale probably comes back next year, i think the odds of that are worth barrie keeping him vs the 3rd and 4th that they would get for him.

They would get wayyyy more than a 3rd and a 4th for him lol put him on a good team and he probably puts up 90 points.

He may return here but he also has that ahl option I believe and the option to return to his home country and play professional there for a year or two before making the leap to the nhl.

Lots of options about him none are very clear. I think barrie sells jelsma (obviously), potentially frasca, and potentially sale. Aitcheson I highly doubt and akey is injured so nobody’s trading for him.

As a Bulldogs fan, I’d be surprised if Donovan gets traded. I’m sure he’d bring a decent return, but then we’d left with a big hole to fill while we’re in a good position. The top pairing of him and Hamara has been working really well.

There’s also another interesting aspect: both are signed Sens prospects playing as a pairing. With Andlauer also owning the Sens, Sens management may feel this is also best for their development. However, I am only speculating on this part.

You’ll get more trading him for 1.5 seasons(2 runs for the title) than just 1 season and 1 run for the title. From what I’ve heard team Canada was between him and Owen Allard for the final invitation to the team Canada camp.

Also there is a chance he gets signed to an ahl contract after this season like tucker robertson on the Pete’s.

Why keep him when you’re not going for it this year or next. Next year they’ll sell off guys like akey too if sale doesn’t come back

Got a guy close to the organization in barrie feeding me this info

Very true. Will be interesting to see what happens. If the east is wide open like how it seems to be, they may scrap plans on trading him

howie campbell always thinks hes going for it, look at the past history of behavouir. they are one of the most active teams with trading top picks for rentals in the last 10 years.

Oh trust me I know about good ol howie my source hates him lol. Barrie clearly doesn’t have it this year though no chance they’re beating brantford, Mississauga, north bay if they don’t sell, Sudbury, kingston or even Oshawa. They prob will make the playoffs as a low seeded team and get blown out first round. Barrie is like kingston they may just trade their best player for some draft picks(jelsma for barrie, ludwinski for kingston) and do whatever next year but barrie even next year won’t be competing with Kingston or Mississauga, and Ottawa will probably be better next year too as they’re young

we can agree that kingston should 100 percent sell but i dont see that happening, they will buy and flame out as per usual.

Only ludwinski should be sold for lots and lots of picks. Nobody else imo but they can still win a round maybe 2 depending on the match up then next year the big 2 in east will be them and sauga

‘sauga is young and seem to be showing signs of wear already

Their start this year is a glimpse of things to come, young players always struggle with consistency in every league. Next year they’ll be a year older and better.

If they still want to go for 1st this year and get massive assets for Ludwinski they can potentially take some of those Ludwinski assets and put them towards a top end OA Center (if available) and pocket the remaining assets for next year. A bit of a hedge.
