Kings @ World Championships in Czech Rep (?)

Lewis has got to be one of the hardest working players on the planet. Love his compete level every night. Many on this team could learn from his approach.

Let's hope for two Kings World Champions later today in Muzzin and Toffoli. Game beginning in 40 minutes from now. Russia coach eventually did decide to break up his excellently performing top line for Ovechkin, and it worked against the US, Ovi getting 1+1 in that game.

Amen. Kind of guy you just cannot get rid of. I said a long time ago I hope Lewis is our Draper/Maltby and he's looking every bit of that in a more modern sense. Always hoped his earlier offensive touch would translate a little to the NHL and this season has been a reward for him. I hope he can continue to grow through the hard work we know he puts in as he's in his prime!

And he was on the ice for the leading goal. In the battle of superstars, Canadian 4th line is currently the difference. (Russian captain Kovalchuk plays on the 4th line, too – Russia has ridiculous depth on offence, similarly to Canada. It's really on defence where Canada has clearly the upper hand.)

Another goal for Canadian 4th line, Canada leads 2-0. Seems like it's Eakin – Ennis – Couturier now, though.

Listening to an interview with Yannetti at last year's draft, he spoke highly of Hellebuyck. Kings wanted to draft him but the Jets were one step ahead of them in selecting Hellebuyck. He's an awesome goalie, Jets will probably end up making room for him at some point within the next two years.

Jets SHOULD be making room for him next year to split time with Hutchinson but they will stupidly keep Pavelec and miss the playoffs again.

He was supposed to be no. 2 behind Peter Budaj in the AHL this season, but instead made Budaj expendable.

Not really. He was expected to split time at worst with Budaj. But yes he did put Budaj to shame.

IMO he's the best goalie outside the NHL (I consider Vasilevski and Gibson as NHLers).

Wanna take that back yet?

I'm actually surprised he hasn't gotten more fanfare all along, not just now. He's absolutely crushed it on all levels.

I'd agree that he's the best goalie outside the NHL. I think Vas is going to be his equal, but I actually am less high on Gibson.

Jones in the middle, and Toffoli and Muzzin on the end.

Official now, Jake Muzzin was the best player of the tournament in plus/minus, with +14, ahead of four other Canadians: Couturier (+13), Burns and Barrie (+12) and Giroux (+11). Interesting that Muzzin's score was structured quite differently compared to Couturier: Muzzin was on the ice for 19 goals for and 5 goals against, whereas Couturier has 13 straight plus-points and zero minus points.

Muzzin was also the tourney's third highest-scoring defenceman, with 8 assists in 10 games, behind Ekman-Larsson (2+10) and Burns (2+9). Ekman-Larsson and Burns got voted to the tourney's all-star team, along with Hellebuyck, Spezza, Hall and Jágr (the tourney's MVP).

Johnny Utah: Trevor Lewis' Story

"I think being a strong two-way guy was key to my success because, honestly, I don't think I would have made it if I relied only on my offensive abilities, but that's why I worked really hard at it," (Lewis) explained. "I knew I had to play a really good two-way game and be as good defensively as I was offensively."

....

"He's a really steady reliable guy," (USA head coach Todd) Richards said. "He thinks the game well and he's good positionally. He's a trustworthy guy to have on the ice when the game's on the line whether it's offensively or defensively, he's the guy that's going to go out and execute and do the right thing. Doesn't mean it's going to be perfect all the time, but you know the intent is there."
