Kings Win 4-1; Ice To See You Avalanche

Not the same team as last year... hot goalie... lots of parity...

This win streak is going to make me change my auto reply....

How is this the same team that dropped 3 to Calgary and one to the Oilers... oh wait Martinez is out.... maybe he's the problem... :laugh:

Someone slap the **** out of Sutter for me... I was watching the game with someone that's just learning hockey.... they bust out... "Colorado's probably waiting for Sutter to put the 4th line out to pull the goalie." This was with 3-4 mins left... sure enough 4th line... goalie pulled... iced puck.... Time out... With the way the Kings have been giving up late goals when the other team pulls the goalie... WHAT THE **** IS THE 4TH LINE DOING OUT WITH 2MINS TO GO? They'll get over missing a shift at the end of the game....

I'm just having flash backs to asking why Fraser was on the ice with 2 mins to go in a game...

While I agree that sometimes I wonder about DS' decisions sometimes, but then I remember he's the only coach that has brought us a Cup (or two) - so I sit back and figure he's three steps ahead of my thinking and just enjoy the game. 4th line on ice at the end of the game? Maybe he's making Roy pull his goalie earlier than he wants. Putting Nolan on at the end of a pp? Maybe he's trying to get Jordan's confidence back so he can chip in a few goals here and there. His choices for the shootouts? Sorry, I got nothing there

Thrilled the Kings are in a playoff spot. Would like to see them continue to move up, because this match-up set currently is WAY too favorable for Anaheim and Calgary.

I was thinking about if LA finished as the 2nd wild card and if Nashville hangs on to top in west. I think I like that matchup. Nashville centre depth is dismal, and I don't think they have the a big enough top 6 to win a seven game series against LA. Then Chicago and St Louis will be banged up and hopefully easy pickings.
Would definitely prefer to get into #2 or #3 in the pacific but hell just being in playoffs will seem like an accomplishment after this up and down year.

This isn't the year any team should be wanting to be testing first round waters with Nashville. While I generally agree with you on C depth, the Kings D depth is a hot mess in comparison to Nashville's (or most of the playoff teams at present), so this is the one year that the Kings really could benefit from more favorable match-ups on paper. I'd rather see Nashville in a later round.

If the Kings make it of course... :)
 
All you need to know is that if the Kings do make it, every other team would rather face anyone else. Except Chicago probably, but even then, maybe. Poor Blues.

The first 6 game winning streak of the year, the 70's and Quick carried the team. In this current 6 game winning streak, the 70's and Quick are carrying the team.

Last night was one of those in between games. Tampa Bay at home, Colorado on the road, and then the big-to-do outdoor game against the Sharks. They got out shot, out chanced, terrible on faceoffs, but Quick saved the day a few times, and they got 2 points out of it. That's the kind of game they haven't been winning this season with any consistency. This season, they've given up 3 goals in that kind of game, not 1. Then the game goes to OT, and we know how poor they've been after 60 minutes.

Good post.

I can't recall a worse Kings game at faceoffs in the championship era. We were absolutely pathetic last night. The one time we did win was huge though: Kopitar beating Reilly
On the momentary 5 on 3 penalty kill and sending the puck down the ice.

Maybe because Shore? You know, the rookie playing in his hometown...

Up 2 so there's no problem with giving him the ice time so his family can watch.

I wish we had better chants. The only consistent ones are "Go Kings Go!", "Hey ___ fans. You suck!", or the goalie mock chant.

In college we head a chant where the student section would should "Hey Alumni...GO!" And the alumni would reply "Bears!". It starts slow, but eventually the whole stadium is going back and forth. Wish we could do something like that.

Did any of you guys ever climb up and protest in the trees?

I don't think I could have handled going to school at Berkeley. Some of the people in Ann Arbor made me want to rip my hair out and it's tame compared to Berkeley.

Berzerkly is a very different place. Had 3 close friends go there for college. And to this day, approaching 30 years out of high school, I have never ran into riot police except there.

No trees for me. I stayed out of trouble for the most part, but yeah Berkeley took some getting used to. It was a culture shock when I got there. Took me over a year to feel comfortable.

This is my weirdest Berkeley story. My friend's older brother was in college there and my buddy's family was driving up to see him and we camped the whole way.

We were walking down that main street buy the college, I think it's Telegraph, with my friends parents... I repeat, with my friends parents and we got offered drugs, to use or buy, at least ten times in a half hour.
