After missing the PO's this season, getting some much needed rest, a bit of re-tooling, and the Kings will be right back in it. Their window is still open for at least 3-4 more seasons, IMO.

Still only 5 points out, its hardly over.

Who'd have though watching last year's playoffs, that it would the be the Rangers 2 points out of their division lead and the Kings in 12th scrapping to make the cut in Feb of this season?

Who have thought Nash would lead the league in Goals?

Every cup winning team comes to a crossroads where they need to shift things up. This is theirs.

The Kings have some smart guys behind the scenes. They'll be fine.

I think the Voynov absence is bigger than most are saying, and Gaborik is physically old for 32, and Carter is not the most consistent.

When was the last time a Cup team did not make the playoffs the next season? I think never.

We've been bitten twice by that snake that plays dead. Nobody that I know in St. Louis has written Los Angeles off just yet so I don't believe you should. We'll wait to see the head completely seperated before we celebrate our increase in chance.

Hmmm. At that level of frequency....every decade roughly......maybe they won't make the playoffs. When I watch the Kings they just look, well, different. Not like previous years.

Yeah, I just don't get the sense that they're ready to go on a run.

Now that I've said that they probably will.

Not logic, not a statement. Just friendly ribbing, since the Kings beat those teams in recent years on the way to the Cup and all. Relax. Of course it would count.

so just a terrible attempt at a joke? oh ok :sarcasm:

you never know on HF!

There's no one doubting that, for sure. They have plenty of young talent.

It's a tough call this year. No offense but I hope like hell they miss :p:

Or striking a nerve, either way :naughty:

I mean, come on, I used 4 very specific teams for my little joke. I'll admit though, I'm not a pro.

But yeah, it's been a disappointing season so far for the Kings. They've gotten up to play the Canucks, Sharks for the most part, Ducks, and Blues, and the Hawks too, but they've really struggled in so many other games. The road has been a mess. 1-7-2 against the East. Those games count too, and the Kings have gotten 4 of a possible 20 points. They're 4-4-4 on the road against the West. Not great, but it's at least breaking even.

This is just what LA does. They'll sneak into a wild card spot and then make it to the conference finals or further.

Since the NHL gained full possession of the Cup, it has happened seven times

Detroit-won in 37, missed in 38
Chicago-won in 38, missed in 39
Toronto-won in 45 and 67, missed in 46 and 68
Montreal-won in 68, missed in 69
New Jersey-won in 95, missed in 96
Carolina-won in 06, missed in 07

Also why couldn't the Kings suck last year?
