I know a couple of Sharks fans in real life and this will sting more for them.

At least the LA Kings' season home opener won't wind up like a stereotypical Raiders game, now that The Bay Area has Raiders-49ers in Oakland this upcoming December 7.

Thanks, AL Davis and Georgia Frontiere, for giving the NHL much-needed coverage back in Los Angeles during the late 1980s.

I don't want Joe or Marleau to go anywhere! Atleast to start the season. Let's get everyone tablets to all the fans sitting behind the Sharks bench and have them play that sad Joe gif throughout the ceremony! That would be soooo classless Kings!!!!

As I recall, the Blackhawks went back to the dressing room during the ceremony two seasons ago.

I would imagine the Sharks will do the same.

Tribute: Remembering the 2013-14 Los Angeles Kings, Stanley Cup champs

He does come around to seriously congratulate the team in the third to last and second to last paragraph in the story, but the rest of it reads pretty bitter, and he can't help himself to get one last shot in in the last paragraph.

I believe they had a rival blogger/twitter guy do this for every team that is eliminated. He likely had that cued up following game three of round one, lol.

And just in case anyone thinks this was an innocent scheduling by the NHL, here is the NHL.com headline for today.

Uh...yup. The NHL is officially trolling the San José Sharks!

I hope you included that pic with your twitter trolling:laugh:

winning the cup is awesome in itself for all of us new and old fans but knowing how bitter it has made duck and shark fans is to coin a phrase PRICELESS

Yeah, some of those Ducks comments about us cheating our way to our second cup are hilarious!

That's ok they can sit in that room the whole time know what the Kings and their fans are doing. This is great I was so hoping this game would be vs the Sharks or the Ducks. What better way to keep their crappy fans out of our building for the few of them that try to make it.

If you were a Sharts fan, would you really have the balls to attend that game? Not only are you trailing 2-0 in the Cup count against your bitter rivals, but you're fresh off that major chokejob against the same team. HAHAHAHA THANK YOU, NHL! Much better opening night foe choice than the Blackhawks. I believe the Rangers were originally the opponents for the 2012-13 opener.

Indeed they were. I thought for sure it would be the Hawks again.

Time to bust out the ring argument! :naughty:

I would have to 100% agree with this...I went to the game last Friday and it was by far the most memorable thing I have ever done...I spent $1500 on a ticket to game 4 in 2012 in which they lost and was heartbroken...going to the clincher this year was insane but even more than that knowing how much it hurt Ducks fans and Sharks fans! I just pictured ***** ass Perry sitting at home watching that game crying over a bowl of cheerios!

This thread is running neck and neck with its sister thread on the Sharks board in terms of replies.

The thread over there is even more entertaining than this one.

I still can't believe how the league trolled one of its own. You just know the schedule-maker had to pass it through Bettman for approval.

I can see little Gary now:

Man, that's so cruel I almost feel bad. Almost. I mean I expect the Sharks will run us out of the building that night but it will so be worth it.
