He was there to be had, that's what makes it all the more confounding. He was one of the very few who seemed to give a dang in the playoffs last season, too, 7824.

He wasn't a Sutter guy. He'd have ended up taking a spot that King or Nolan would've been occupying, and we can't have that.

There to be had, but the Kings weren't the only team not to take him. Maybe he wanted to go play in Switzerland, who knows. Seems like a pretty nice place to be. Then I think the insurance didn't work or whatever, he came back in time for camp, the Oilers gave him a tryout, and then signed with the Flames.

If the Flames signed him on July 1st for $950k, then alright, he's one that got away.

After he went to Switzerland it was a wash, as we had already signed his replacement (Purcell).

I loved what I saw from Kris last season, in his short stint with us. A poor man's Pearson with experience.

Versteeg was Europe bound if not for a technicality and EVEN THEN Wasn't signed until he was PTOed. So that's literally NO NHL TEAM WANTED HIM and even the team that tried him out saw him sign with someone else. Hindsight is 20-20, and many of us wanted him re-signed, but come on people, when you're literally out of the league and back because of some goofy insurance technicality...

Hindsight is definitely 20/20, but you literally contradict yourself with the qualifier in the same sentence, Rocky Raccoon.

Throw money? Lol. He signed for about the same price as Purcell. He was also one of our most productive and tenacious players last season after the trade and in the playoffs.

Still why?

He ended up signing for next to nothing. You assume he was willing to sign for next to nothing when the Kings were considering who to keep.
