That'd be Dan Rusanowsky. Has been the Sharks' play by play commentator since the club's first season in 1991.
Thank you. I thoroughly enjoyed him. Even during the delay with the third pane of glass, he was telling interesting stories about Germany, San Jose, etc. Just found ways to keep an audience engaged during a boring stretch of time!

He's honestly one of my favorite play by play guys in the league, always enjoy when he calls national games or when I have to watch the sharks feed.

Worse, because they're the Ducks.
I hate Ducks as much as the next guy but that’s just absurd. I’m speaking as a hockey fan here, it’s embarrassing the way the sport is treated by the local media here, even their own broadcaster. 2 Cup wins not enough to earn a mainstream recognition and respect.

You know it’s actually a backhanded compliment when a Canadian Kings player says they prefer playing here in LA over their hometown (mostly Leafs) because no one here in LA would recognize them as opposed to getting mobbed in a Canadian city.

I was at the game. Here are some observations.

Disclaimer: I had 4 tall Modelos during this game and I don’t ever get super analytical like some folks here so take it for what it’s worth (jack shit).

Clarke was good, but erratic. He’s special, but he’s trying all sorts of cute shit and he runs out of time. Couple of pretty big gaffs in the D zone but he seemed to recover well. He had Q set up for a great one timer but he passed it too hard and into the skates. Little shit like that but man, his confidence and skill is unreal. They need to give him the 9 games at least.

Byfield had a couple of moments where I’m like, “how tf is this big dude moving this fast”. He does get poke checked a lot though. He makes big sweeping moves and tries to go around guys, but there are good sticks at this level and they’re disrupting him pretty easily one on one. His skating though…holy shit. Made a couple of great passes too.

Kaliyev seems to be faster than I remember. Had a few opportunities, including one perfect set up for a one timer. It was a rocket, but everything is wide left.

There were long stretches in the game where the Kings couldn’t complete more than one or two passes in a row. SJ seemed really defensively sound. Really disruptive with sticks and shutting down passing lanes etc. Very little sustained pressure by the Kings.

Helenius is a goddamned giant. Doty has a severe case of dumbface but don’t tell him I said that.

Apparently the glass is new this year and they’re still figuring it out. It popped out three different times in different spots. Funny quote from the guy sitting behind me, “Did they buy the f***ing glass in Rialto? Man this place is a bag of shit.”

More than a little bit annoyed that the organization is just flipping off the longtime diehards game after game here.
I'm confused on what everyone is 'flipping' out about. We are getting 5 of the 7 preseason games televised. I can remember a time in the not so, near-distant past where we'd be lucky to get 1 game televised.

Axl, please tell me this is tongue in cheek or satire. You are even running interference for Kings media (mis)management??
In this 2022 full-out digital age you are comparing to VHF/UHF times??
There is no excuse for not televising EVERY game the Kings play.
Hard core fans deserve it and it spreads the fever to new and future fans.
Hell, ADHD boys need something to do when they‘re avoiding homework.

And how much has streaming, twitch, youtube, etc. blown-up since then? Hell, there was a damn fan streaming portions of the game on Twitch. It's not to much to ask for a major league professional sports organization to have their live game video available. And this isn't some anti Kings management thing, this goes for any other major sports franchise as well. It's 2022, get your shit together

I'm just saying you guys are acting like this isn't the norm. When was the last time (or EVER) we've had EVERY preseason game televised let alone 75% of them? If it's ever happened, it was prob 2013 through 2015 for obvious reasons.

seriously you got kids walking around in BFE with backpacks of gear streaming to multiple platforms in HD nowadays, there's just no excuse

Dude.

They literally just need to set up a camera--hell, even a tripod with a phone--unmanned.

Other teams were streaming everything, including training camp practices.

This isn't about having to necessarily be a full broadcast on TV, it's about fan access to stuff using technology--and somehow we're supposed to be okay with one of the richest orgs in the biggest markets in the league relying on other teams to show even 1 of our first 3 preseason games.

If Kings want to pretend they're a first-rate org, they can't take stupid shortcuts like this, especially when they're trying to juice up fan excitement for this season. This feels every bit like Robitaille not knowing anything about the year 2022. If Seattle and 15 other orgs can broadcast practice, surely LA can figure out how to show even ONE of their first three games without relying on an organization only a few years old in VGK.

Apparently the ice was garbage last night, crap audio, zero stream, crap glass.

"What a fool believe"

Time to send quite a few (glass guy, ice guy, decision maker that chose not to stream the game) back to their junior clubs...

Here’s the kicker: they are already doing that. With multiple camera angles and camera operators.

The catch is it’s only for the in arena feed.

How EASY would it be to simply stream that feed? VERY EASY.

How do I know this? I could see the jumbotron showing the feed from last night’s cell phone twitch stream. They even have replays lmao.

NHL.com has box scores.

Just goals, assists, +/- and saves. TOI would've been nice at least.

Edit: The only game last night w/o full stats. I guess they didn't want to pay for a stat keeper last night either. And before the defense force arrives (they're on ignore, so whatever), it would be nice to know how many minutes Clarke and Byfield played for example. To get an idea of deployment.

Exactly. It’s not remotely hard, it just takes one person to actually bother. I think they get a lot of undeserved stick at times but not having a stream, even if it’s without commentary is indefensible.

Pre-season is mostly hot garbage. Really means very little in even predicting anything for the upcoming season.

This is true. But people get over excited because it's been so long away from hockey, so a lot of over analyzation occurs, both good and bad.

Remember at about this time last year people thought Lias- Vilardi - Tkachev was the second coming of the Legion of Doom. And then all the veterans around the league flipped their switches on.
