Agreed for sure, I think Stewart will be waived once Anze is back, but thats jmo.

Seems like the idea. Honestly...even without Stewart..a 4th and a 6th are pretty good return for a guy who hardly played. Especially with as good as Lombardi is at late round drafting.

For sure, I was just hoping that LA would waive Westgarth, to get an asset, nevermind 2 picks and a depth player for him is unreal!

By the way Ducks just invited PIERRE-LUC LETOURNEAU LEBLOND to camp. They now have Staubitz, Leblond, possibly Rosehill (AHL contract), Bodi, and Souray in camp. Way tougher than the Kings.

They have to catch any of the Kings for that to matter...I hope those guys do play for Ducks, means we will destroy them every time...

You act as though goons are some great equalizer, the early 90s called, you're about to miss the time machine back.

In all sincerity Westgarth is a decent hockey player. He's been put into the goon position but he could turn out to be a decent all around 4th liner. He could do more then just skate around for a few minutes and get into a fight.

We just have way to many big strong guys with far more upside that need icetime.

Weren't you also scared 2 years ago when the Ducks brought it Sutton and Brookbank and Bodie and Winchester and Chipchura and Ruutu and Parros....yea not to worried about it.

There is a stat in the main boards thread from one of the Kings blogs. It basically says Westgarth has some of the worst stats in the NHL as far as goal against and penalties.

Goon =/= tough. A goon without a dance partner is a liability that will either get left behind in the play, or be forced to take dumb penalties.

Little known fact. Kings wanted to draft Anthony Stewart in 2003, and were miffed when Florida moved up and selected Stewart. Which is why the Kings called a time out at the draft. They were unprepared and had no clue how to react to having the player they were about to select get plucked away from them. So they mulled it over and took a gamble with Brian Boyle.

This is one of the major differences between Lombardi's staff and Taylor's staff. Lombardi has talked in great detail about being prepared to move around during the draft and what to do if the player you want is selected before your pick. And now the Kings have 4 of the top 25 players from the 2003 draft.

Good luck to Westy. I can't believe we got all that for him.:handclap:

All the heavyweight fights in the game today are staged anyhow. If the Kings don't match up with one of these guys, I highly doubt there will be a scrap with any of those guys anyhow. If they dress all these guys they better be prepared to get blown out more than once this season as well.

None of those guys are scary fighters, save for PLL and he won't play. Boudreau wasn't exactly enforcer friendly in Washington.

Nolan and Clifford are fine against all of them except PLL.

Better yet None of those guys are Hockey players. I am so glad the Kings don't let other teams lineups dictate what the Kings do.

The Kings now roll four lines, and it's the others team job to match and try to shut down the Kings....

Awesome feeling.

Dude Stewart was a 40 point player (14g) for the Thrashers.....

This guy can actually play hockey.

This will also push guys like Nolan/Clifford. Stewart can replace them.

May also be a check for guys like King/Lewis (they have to produce on that third line).

Very true! He's a project, but there is a reason he was a first rounder. Great personality but just lacks commitment and focus sometimes (Much like his brother). Sutter might be an awakening for him, give him a little direction and role in his game.

too bad they won't be winning if all those guys are playing (maybe subtract Souray).

Of note, even if Stewart gets waived and clears, we will still be on the hook for $100K against the salary cap, something that likely factored into the trade for Carolina. It's not a huge amount but we will have to factor it in.

I think (based on CAR fans comments and the Boucher trade) that the real money paid to Stewart has more to do with it than the cap hit...

The way I see it , the 4th round pick was to get the Kings to take Stew's Salary.

Loving it, I am confidant the Kings scouts will turn that 4th into a solid prospect.

Could be, I'll leave it up to the Canes fans to give their opinion on that. Just noting that for us, Stewart will have a cap hit of some sort for us all season, barring LTIR or him getting traded/claimed.

sad that westy is gone, but for that return its a steal. Good luck westy. Thanks to your help we probably wouldn't even have a season. Wish you the best
