It takes more than a big frame to be ranked top-5 though. He's not just some big pluggy scrub. He'd be excellent value at 13. I'm just not excited about him because he's already a 2012-Kings-style forward and I'm looking forward to something a little more speedy and dynamic. That wouldn't make it a bad pick. It's moot because I doubt he falls this far anyway, but I think it's funny that he gets dropped for not being exciting enough rather than raised for having all the tools. I'd love to know what I'm missing from someone a little more in the know because it seems like many rankings have him high while a ton of message boarders have him lower.

Do HF posters see anything outside of #'s or not just follow the trend? Read any thread with him all posters who watched him like him. It is only those that read HF, watch a youtube or two, and maybe just maybe 1-3 games and think they are an expert on a player. Just look at the Norris conversation where do you honestly see Doughty winning one unless he puts up ~60+ pts?. Also Crouse is an amazing skater and would be one of the faster or fastest guys on our team. He is similar to Carter in those regards, but even bigger. To the person who posted Rantanen/Crouse are the same that isn't true at all. Not every tall player is identical nor are all small skilled players. Rantanen is great at stick handling and has plenty of fancy goals. That is not a big part of Crouse's game and majority of his goals come from around the net.

I personally love Zacha like plenty here so hoping he falls. If not I'd like to take a chance on Svechnickov or Guryianov if going high risk/reward. I'd also like Konecny, but that won't happen with him going to Michigan.

Opinions are like.....well you know the rest. Crouse is a highly debated pick. Not just by me. He has a lot of compete and plays a solid all around big game. I think you kind of see what you get. Not a bad pick by any means and even if he doesn't score he will help in other areas.
 
Cap $$ are the name of the game, if that plus Richards gets him off your books you do it. Still a crap shoot with draft picks..

You are going to need the player taken in the 1st round of this draft to be joining the Kings on an ELC in two or three seasons. That's why you buy out Richards. It's the least impact in terms of cap over the next three seasons. In years 4 and 5 you have the kid taken with the 1st round pick in this draft with a low cap hit.

Personally I'd hope someone falls to us or go with Connor/Meier/Svechnickov (Konecny if Lombardi can put his Michigan hate aside). I'm most intrigued to see where Guryianov and Bracco go this draft though. If no one falls at least personally wouldn't mind moving back and obtaining another 2nd next year to make up for the lack of a 1st. I think some great players are still available in the 20's that could easily surpass those taken in the teens. Like it has been posted all over though would any King's fan really be shocked if #13 was used in some form or way in a deal involving Richards? I agree easiest would be to just buy him out, but we aren't P. Anschutz and 22 million is no small sum to pay out.

To KotR Crouse is only highly debated as a top 5 maybe 10 pick. Find me even 3 posts in the entirety of all the Crouse threads on here that debate yet alone would question picking him ~13 (Thousands of posts to sift and pick from. Having followed all those threads I'll help you out it doesn't exist). Will have to agree to disagree where you stand without a single scout, reputable source, or fan who actually has watched him play outside of WJC/youtube agree. Nothing wrong with that though I've held blind hate against players myself before too.

Good point, though you do take the risk the kid we pick either doesn't pan out (Teubert) or takes much longer to make the pro team (Forbort). Also, bonuses will count against the cap and those can go quite high, though they are harder to attain in some cases. The benefit to the cap of a buyout versus a trade involving the 1st so we don't have any cap hit from Richards is higher risk potentially high reward.

I also never said the Kings wouldn't take him only that I'd rather they take someone else. I could be completely wrong and Crouse could be the next Neely. I'd gladly eat crow and admit you are the be all end all on future prospects. But there IS concern out there and to say there isn't is just wrong.

I'll back you. I think Crouse is heavily overrated and the most likely to be a flop of anyone routinely expected to go in the top 10.

When did I ever say there wasn't concerns about him, I'm some god on prospect, and Crouse is the next Crosby? Please show me that. All I've ever argued is questioning taking him at #13 not once have I argued he should be a top 5 pick or can't drop even to us for that matter. Did you open a single link you posted? I only opened two links and they only confirmed if not greatly confirmed what I wrote so stopped, but appreciate the help lol. From your 2nd link to those questioning his scoring he was 2nd only to McDavid in goals% of teams total goals. If those are your news outlets no wonder you have your disposition though. I suggest actually scouting services and analysts such as: ISS, RLR, Hockey Prospects, THN, Future Considerations, Elite Prospects, TSN, etc

The issue I have with you is you don't know me and you act like my opinion is less than your fellow armchair opinion. All of those articles talk about his pros and cons. And yes I have read all the sites you have, shocking I know but scouts can get it wrong too. Many are concerned about his bust potential or at least his scoring ability in the pros. P.S. Konecny isn't going to Michigan.

I'm 100% sure the 4M dollar cap penalty will hinder the team's success. I'm not even close to 100% sure whoever we draft will pan out and be ready to contribute by that time. Now, the logical defense to that is, well some other prospect will be then since we draft so well, and now we're back where trading the first to offload Richards looks better and better.
 
Just the 13th pick, is not enough to move Richards.

Also I doubt Lombardi would even consider it, seriously.

Teams can ask for the moon right now knowing the Kings situation. Also if said team, would actually want to take a flyer on Richards, they can simply wait till he gets bought out (if the Kings are not willing to part with say Toffoli).

Toffoli/1st 13th, would be my asking price to take Richards off Lombardi's hands. No one is going to do the Kings a favor. Or something like Muzzin/1st 13th pick. Those would be my asking prices.

I think less and less about the draft being a crap shoot with every draft the current management team does


For perspective look at the kings draft's between 1997-2004 compared to 2007-present

I am excluding 2005 because even though DT drafted those players, DL developed them
 
I am all for trading down for a guy like Oliver Kylington. Guy was top ranked European player at the mid mark and has fallen back.

I would. Maybe we could get Calgary (15th) and Edmonton (16th) to bid against each other for 13. I'd be happy with switching picks, and getting either of their 2nd rounders next season, preferably Edmonton's.

The Russian Guryanov peaks my interest. Especially the following. It is just what we need (along with Carter & Gaborik). Some that can and does shoot.

Scouting Report:A typical Russian power forward with good size and an absolute rocket shot. Loves to fire the puck and uses his whole shot arsenal to score. Shoots whenever he finds an open lane.

Guryanov is a huge wild card. Not sure I have feelings on him yet. I think a team that has multiple 1sts or 2nds will gamble on him.

IMHO we need a forward scorer most. I wouldn't mind using the 43rd pick for your guy.
 
He (Guryanov) has been rising. He's been going in mocks anywhere from 10 to 30. Too soon maybe to take at 13, but maybe not at ... He'll be gone of course by 43. Can't wait that long.

I haven't seen much film on him. Wonder if he is at all like Tarasanko?
