Very nice value selection at that spot. This guy will fit in very well with the Kings. I love it when a guy makes the trip across the pond and doesn't miss a beat. He's got good offensive numbers but he isn't really known as a scorer because he is also a gritty forward. He goes into the corners without fear, he gets down low and he scored a good number of pro style goals. When they moved up, I had a strong feeling it was for him, especially given the relatively high price they paid.

Lombardi pretty well divested of late picks and why not? I'd rather emerge with quality than quantity at this point since the Kings are not throwing stuff against a wall to see if it sticks for a particular set of needs. Pretty good organizational depth now, so feel free to be picky.

Andrew, I have been meaning to ask you this for a while.

Have you ever eaten at Knollwood?

They make a fine burger!

Man I love this kid already. And great soundtrack on the highlight vid :)

Also, funny that he wears an oddball number...that is already taken for the forseeable future by another slick winger ;)

Man, when I was reading scouting reports of these players prior tot he draft I was telling myself, dang, this guy looks perfect. I never dreamed we'd put ourselves in a position to get him. I'm confident that any other year he would be a 14-20 slot pick.

Does he have to go back to Russia to play in their system for 2 years and then come over, or is he here to stay?

so this kid was 17 all year and just turned 18. Are there any concerns over the fact he would have to play 2 full years of jr before he can play in the ahl? Seems like he had a pretty good year as a 17yr old rookie, what are the odds of him being able to make the jump to the nhl before he can play in the ahl? Projections from anyone that's done more hw on the draft than me? khl flight risk after another year if he dominates the Q?

The knock is skating. It still needs some work. He's also still working on consistency.

I wish I could be called inconsistent scoring 40 goals as a rookie in the Q.

Toffoli was criticized for his skating, as well; hopefully the developmental crew can work with him to bring him to the next level.

Mantha had 50 and he played about 5 shifts a night.

I saw periods where Zykov was a bull and others where his head wasn't in it at all. Never saw him play a complete game. Still young but it's something that he'll have to work on.

No kidding. I was going over his highlight reels, kid has some hands...very deceptive. Needs to work on his stride for sure, but that was something that Toffoli needed to work on.

just watching the video to me he looked like a quicker, more agile (not skating wise just hands and movement) and more skilled version of justin williams. very good in the corners and along the wall

He does play a lot like Willy on the boards. His feet and hands in tight are excellent. The skating issue is more straight-line speed and lack of agility carrying thru center. I guess that's not too far off from Williams either. What he does that Williams doesn't is plays the body hard, especially on the forecheck. Great fit for LA systematically.

Was busy wasn't able to follow the draft today someone please update me on how we got the 37 pick assuming obvious trade?

Well I am glad that his skating issue is more about acceleration and straight hustle. Because he looks like he can walk pretty easily around from corners and around the net, and that's more harder to learn than developing a hustle IMO. Its more of a fitness aspect that they need to work on him and some coaching and they can improve that. His nifty foot work is much harder to learn but thank god he has that. Makes him much more versatile and deceptive. A bit datsyukish,

traded our second, third, and earliest fourth to move up.

Wow thanks! Sounds like a good player but I'm skeptical about every drafted player now -a-days until I see then I'll believe it! But hopefully he pans out.
