If Zegras ends up the better NHL’er vs Turcotte, it will be tough to justify the pick.

How would it be tough to justify the pick? Turcotte was the 4th ranked NA skater and was at times considered to be a top 3 pick. Many people assumed that he would be going to the Hawks and it was a bit of a shock that he was available to the Kings. This wasn't a Hickey pick, this was a very good value pick.

Turcotte slipped from the top 3 due to concerns about injury history and style of play. Similar to Vilardi, but taken with a top ten pick. The guy the Hawks took is an NHL player today and Zegras could slot in behind Steel, Comtois, etc next year on the Ducks and not be out of place. Turcotte is looking like it will take 2-4 years before he is ready for pro hockey and the Kings are ready for him.

You said it would be very hard to justify the pick, when it is very easy to justify the pick. it was easy then, it is easy now and it will be easy in the future. All of your arguments are hindsight ones(and poor ones at that).

Also, it's pretty wild to me that you view 3 points as the difference between making the NHL next season and being 4 years out. Turk has 16 points in 19 games, Z has 19 points in 19 games this season. It's not some huge gap, especially because Turcotte is lauded for his defensive game.

People are having buyers remorse about Turcotte because Zegras played very well at the WJC. Points are everything you know.

Hi guys, I didn't know if I should post this here or somewhere else, but it involve a couple of your prospects so I'll do it here. I have a couple of your guys on my fantasy hockey league and I was searching info about them and I don't find things up-to-date about all of them, so I'll ask here and if someone is kind enough to take time and help, I would gladly help in the same way if anyone have any questions about Habs players/prospects (Yes, Kovalchuk is doing amazing.. ).

I have Gabriel Vilardi, Carl Grundstrom, Kale Clague, Michael Amadio, Austin Wagner and Matt Luff. I'm wondering about Blake Lizotte too, because I picked Matt Luff just before him and I have a feeling that wasn't a good choice at all.

What I would like to know is where they will probably be in 1-2 seasons, and if they are more likely or not to reach their potential?

From what I've seen, Vilardi might be a big high risk/high reward, Grundstrom and Clague are potential good Top-6/Top-4, Amadio and Wagner are probably career bottom-6 and Luff, I have no idea! Am I way off? Should I try to trade some of them because they probably won't reach anything really useful?

Thanks a lot! You have one of the best prospect pool in the NHL, so it's kinda hard to know where these player could end up!

And sorry if my English isn't perfect, I tried my best haha!

Welcome to the board and your English is great.

Likely in the NHL within 2 seasons:
- Carl Grundstrom. High chance to be mid-6 LW
- Gabriel Vilardi. Low chance to reach potential (high end #1C), but likely to be a #2 C.
- Blake Lizotte. High chance to be a bottom 6 forward. Endless ethic.
- Mike Amadio. Slow skater, but bottom 6 center. Could top out as #3 C, but more likely as a #4.

Bubble NHLer within 2 seasons:
- Kale Clague. The talent is there, but he has some defensive warts.
- Austin Wagner. World class speed, but has trouble finishing this year. Might get a revival to his career on another team like Grabner.

Not expecting to be in the NHL:
- Matt Luff. Has a good shot, but there's no identity to his game. Reminds me of former Kings prospect Jonny Brodzinski (now with the Sharks org. Many lament how he wasn't given a chance, when he's a borderline NHLer on his second team)

The first part of the boldfaced is about as disingenuous as it gets--Dach is in the NHL because it was CHL or nothing, Turcotte is in college. And by the way, Player A has 6 goals, 8 assists, and 14 points; Player B has 6 goals, 5 assists, and 11 points. Player B? Kirby Dach. Player A? Kyle Clifford. What would you be saying if that name was "Turcotte" instead of Dach right now?

The second part is a completely biased assumption and you could say the same for Turcotte if you were wearing different shades. They're only a couple of points apart in the NCAA and that's even with Turcotte's illness.

It would be a bummer if Zegras ended up better than Turcotte, but it wouldn't be a second-guessed pick at all.

Player(s) to keep an eye on. Carryover from a previous post of mine.

Andre Lee 7th round has 7g 11a in 22 gms as a freshman. Tied for 2nd on the team in goals. 6'4 201lbs big kid. No idea how his skating is. Assuming he's scoring from in front. Putting in a solid freshman season so far.

His teammate and fellow Swede Carl Berglund also a freshman, leads UMass-Lowell with 10 goals and a +11. Also has a bit of size at 6'2 195. Undrafted. Could be an interesting player.

Lee compares to Michael Mersch at the moment as far as skating.
