Hamilton already made a trade to add to their roster. Doubt they'd move Kaliyev.

With Janik out who was lethal this year with AK34, they are looking to add Czech import Jan Mysak who they took in the import draft. I have yet to see official confirmation on this from the Bulldogs.

Don’t see any trade that they have made here leading up to the deadline. I don’t think it would be anything impactful but we’ll see soon enough.

CHL prospects game is here in a few weeks. May have to go check out future King Alex Lafreniere. :thumbu:

Sorry, I was misremembering something else (long day). It wasn't a trade, but it was confirmation they were adding Mysak.

I know he's a Yotes prospect but I feel for Jenik, he was truly beasting out before the injury.

Seems like a good kid from what I’ve seen here in Hamilton. Hard worker. I like his game. Has potential to turn into a good pro.

Hope his recovery goes well.

Bulldogs got him for virtually pennies on the dollar in a trade last season.

Another Athletic article by Jordan Samuels-Thomas: Kings prospect Arthur Kaliyev can score lots of goals in the NHL right now

He breaks down some of his goals in the WJC, including his second one against Russia

Jordan Samuels-Thomas said:
Kaliyev showed strong skating through the neutral zone, not skating straight up the ice but using a series of crossovers each way to create space for himself in transition. After crossing the blue line, he used the defender as a screen as he shot through him and the goalie for an impressive goal from distance.

Similar to how you see NBA players shooting the ball a step early or a step late to catch a defender off guard, Kaliyev didn’t pull the puck to shoot after his first stickhandle, like 95 percent of players would do in this situation. Rather, after the first stickhandle over the blue line, he extended his hands even further away from his body for a second stickhandle, which caused an even greater puck-angle change for the goalie to deal with.

The takeaway, in my opinion:
Jordan Samuels-Thomas said:
Kaliyev is too good for junior hockey. He’s notched 31 goals and 31 assists in 33 games for the Hamilton Bulldogs of the OHL this season. This is not hyperbole; it’s an absolutely huge stat line that should earn him an entry-level contract whenever he decides he wants to see a signing bonus hit his account.

He’s toying with the league.

Badgers have lost 4 straight and are 2-7-1 in their last 10 I believe. Goaltending and defense have been pretty bad this season. Not looking good in the Big 10 2-8-1. Not that it matters I guess but Turcotte hasn't scored a point in awhile. Not even sure if they'll make the big dance if they keep this up unless I'm wrong.

Thanks for always doing this! Arty has 0 points today...but then again, the game has not started. Will want to see how Akil does in his first game with the Petes.
