Need to bounce Carter and Toffoli to open up spots. I think Amadio could be an odd man out just due to numbers.

Grundstrom and Luff should be in the starting lineup. Wagner too. Leipsic is an RFA. LA could and should keep him.

JAD and Kupari will challenge Amadio for spots at camp too.

I’d rather watch the young guys play if they can earn their spots. Better than watching retirement check collecting has beens.

Not that it's a great source nowadays, but The Hockey News' annual Future Watch was released. My main criticism over the years is that they conduct the polling right after the WJC, so there tends to be recency bias for the guys who played, while some guys who might have been a few weeks too old to be eligible for tournament suddenly get forgotten.

For the Kings, their poll has Kupari (#19), Vilardi (#49), Thomas (#67), Anderson-Dolan (#72), Anderson (#89) among the top 100. Grundstrom, Petersen, Durzi, and Sodergran round out the top 10 for LA.

David Hrenak backstopped St. Cloud to a 5-2 win, including a major towards the end of the game, where it was 6-on-4.

I believe they play the winner of Minnesota-Duluth and Denver, which is on now.

Mikey Anderson is on Minnesota-Duluth, and he ran over someone like a truck early in the first.

What's the likelyhood of Hrenak going pro next season?

Goaltending this off-season for the Kings franchise-wide, is one of the most unknown ones in over a decade. For the first time, Quick could be traded. Campbell has one year remaining on his contract and Petersen is an RFA this offseason. I think what happens with those 3, will determine if they offer Hrenak a pro contract. He is finishing his Soph season.

It's also the first time in a decade, that another goalie not named Quick, is capable of taking over. Both Campbell and Petersen are capable and ready now.

Doubtful. He's a sophomore, in a good program, and with Kehler and Villalta fighting for an AHL spot, keeping him in the NCAA allows him to marinate.

this kid is suppose to have high compete , hopefully similar to quick, quick knew bernier was ahead of him on the prospect list so he left college early to get his shot before B's time in juniors was up and the rest is history honestly have no idea if this kid is ready but how sweet would it be to have history repeat itself

Mikey Anderson and the UMD Bulldogs are the NCHC Champions, beating David Hrenak and St. Cloud State in Double Overtime, 3-2.

The game winner was a 2-on-1 where the defender didn't play it well. Granted, it took Hrenak a little too long to cross the crease, but none of the goals really looked bad.

Congrads, Mikey! He was +3 as well. On ice for all UMD goals and not on for the 2 SC goals.

He's ****ing 22 years old and hasn't even played 82 games. And he's gone over PPG and been pretty dominant in the AHL too. AND has been a late bloomer at every level.

10 goals 20 points would be top-tier for a 4th liner, and that's assuming he's done developing at 22.

Why are we so ready to dump on guys who have only played portions of seasons and less than 10 minutes per game? Let them develop.

yes, the road to the NHL is littered with guys with high junior production. But it's just as silly to make sweeping proclamations about a career this early.
Excellent point. As long as the guy is steadily improving and playing full seasons (NHL games + AHL games) then stick with him.

Frozen Four tournament is set:

First Round
West: St. Cloud vs. AIC
Midwest: University of Minnesota-Duluth vs. Bowling Green

3/24 results:

Guelph won 7-0, Durzi had an Assist(2) and +1, Phillips was scoreless and +3. (GUE leads 2-0)
Mississauga lost 5-3, Ingham stopped 36/40. (SBY leads 3-0)

3/25 games:

SSM (Villalta) @ Owen Sound (Dudas)
