They rank among the NHL’s best in suppressing high danger chances and goals against.

They pass the eye test, shaky goaltending may be the only leak but the goalies can play.

I don’t see them going away, and it with all their depth it makes sense seeing them finally perform

Will Los Angeles make a run this year ?

The Kings offseason additions of Foegle, Kuemper, Jeannot, and Edmunsson were largely unheralded, but paying big dividends. And Doughty’s injury has given Mikey Anderson and Gavrikov the opportunity to take their games to another level that wouldn’t be possible with Doughty playing his usual 27 minutes a night. And they’ve responded to those increased minutes better than I think even Kings fans could hope for

Last year I didn't want the Oilers to face them yet again. But 4 years in a row is interesting. How many teams have been eliminated 4 times in a row by the same team? Or will they slay the dragon this time?

Im holding out hope that we win our division this year and it’s actually possible because I believe we will have played 95% of our road games in the next 6 weeks and well at home we have the best record going back to last year under Hiller in the entire NHL.

If we win our division and avoid playing Oilers or Vegas in round 1 only idc in round 2 or 3 bring em on long as everyone has gone through a rough round already no team scares me . I just dont want to verse either team in round 1. If that happens then i think we might have a chance to go atleast to the WCF this year

The team I do not want to face is Vegas.

Yes Oilers beat LA three times because they have two of the best in their line up. I always felt LA were close (one playoff without Doughty too) but unfortunately Draisaitl and McDavid always did well.

They are surely one of the greatest teams ever assembled, and are a shoo in to win the Cup.

Idk, maybe the Kings are due, but since the Kings lost in 7 games 3 years ago, they lost in 6, and then in 5 last year. The trend seems to be that the Oilers are only getting better against them. Also the reason you give for why the Oilers have won in the past will still be there

Foegele and Edmundson have been so much better than expected. Foegele was pretty solid last year but he has built on that and is even better. Edmundson’s revival maybe mostly due to just being fully healthy?

Gavrikov and Anderson are also proving to be way more than supplementary stay-at-home top four guys. They are soaking in huge roles and even contributing a bit offensively. Gavrikov is gonna get paid huge this off-season, he’s playing like a #1 defenseman.

Kempe’s a real one too. I think he’s definitely got a case as one of the best 10 wingers in the NHL at this point. Hugely underrated star and a great two-way player to boot. They probably need Fiala to step up though to truly challenge…feels like the offense is still lacking another game-breaker.

The Kings have been good for a few years now, they just run into the team with 2 superstars that break games open in Edmonton. They can't trade chances back and forth with a team like that since they rely on absurd defensive to win games. I do like them a lot this year though, like others have said, they just gotta get past the Oilers

Yes from 7 to 6 to 5 looks that way but is stat watching IMO.

The first playoffs LA were pretty fortunate.

I also appreciate that both teams are different, especially the Kings. Imo the change in style of play is the biggest factor. Any team that plays an overly defensive system against the Oilers will have a bad time.

Also the Oilers are quite a bit softer this season.

The issue will still be Kopitar running out of gas by Game 3 of the first round. Doughty could be fresh, or could be rusty.

The additions of Foegle, Jeannot and Edmundson have made them much better in the trenches for sure. Previous Kings teams would shrink when the pressure grows, that is less likely now.

Byfield and Spence are really warming up, Clarke and Turcotte specialize in transition, and the 4th line is huge now.

I don't see a long run with the age at #1c, #1d and #1g, but they are a much better fit to take on Edmonton.

You just hope that the awful preferential treatment from the refs that the Oilers get at home doesn't continue to tarnish the matchup.
