In all fairness, I think this argument is lacking. The industry would almost certainly give Jets odds worse than 45-55 if they started icing horrible 3v3 lineups (Morrow+Dano+Matthias).
The 45-55 odds are given in the situation where it seems that teams have not really spent much time practising and are basically jut throwing in their best players. We don't actually know how the odds would look if some teams started approaching OT with a more serious attitude. Wouldn't surprise to see me odds in the 40-60 range in such a scenario.
Again, I think OT is pretty much a coin toss and not something to spend much time considering - I just think this particular argument does not really stand up to scrutiny.
