I don't think anyone with rational thought doubted Scuds would play pretty well, but for him to play 19 minutes and play as well as he did exceeded everyones expectations.
To the second part, that's for damn sure.
To the first part, I doubt I was being irrational, I was basing it on my own two eyes and EVERYTHING I read from credible sources (i.e. not reactionary HF fans, but beat writers and analytical bloggers). It was very reasonable to doubt his ability to hang. I'm thrilled he was able to not only hang but look vintage 2012 Scuderi and in huge (for our bottom guys) minutes.
Fair enough. (For the record, what I said wasn't directed at you specifically, more so the whole board, many of whom probably never saw him play in Pittsburgh or Chicago and how this was a waste of capspace in future, among other things).
Maybe he just fits in a system where he isn't expected to cover up for guys taking risks all the time (Looking at you, Pittsburgh and to a lesser extent Chicago).
Patrick O'Neal does a fantastic job bringing levity to our telecasts. He has a quirky charm to him, yet is still very professional.
Eichel with a generational dive.
Nice to see us being frustrating.
Scuderi was nails, I'd be thrilled to be totally wrong about him, but I'm gonna reserve judgment until we see this d-core in action against not-Buffalo at 11 PM their time...tomorrow should be a better indicator of how we handle bigger, faster teams when we have a bit of a slower d-core going. BUT--he still has that elite stick and IQ it seems, at least here, because every other game I watched that he was a part of (granted it was like 5 games) he was a tire fire, though he was being relied on to move the puck too much...I guess here having a 'defensive' guy on each pairing works because of the layers, the systematic movement and rotations.
Poor Kopitar. Disallowed goal, Disallowed (beautiful) assist, narrowly missed empty net![]()
I agree. He's gotten a lot of crap on this board but I think he does a great job.

I saw him skate his last season with the Kings and really wasn't sad when he left. He looked fine tonight against a bottom dwelling team with injuries. We get to see how he looks against the Mighty Ducks tomorrow.
Edit: It bothered me how often Scuderi wouldn't tie up his guy in front of the net and swing away at pucks.
