what are you talking about ? harris and warren combined for 110 yards receiving total.
wilson threw for 411 yards

i'll ask you again, do you watch these games or just make up this $hit in your head?

here, watch the damn highlights at least before blabbering about what you think happened in the game.

His intended air yards that game 4.3 yards. The team had 270 yac. The bengals players said the biggest problem was the Steelers check downs. In the 2nd game Smith called plays knowing the bengals would take away the dump offs and had guys wide open in the mof RW never threw it

Grain of salt because DK is the worst but he’s pretty adamant the Steelers don’t want Wilson back. He says it’s a combination of his play and him pissing off members of the organization with some of the games he’s trying to play with the media.

The little blip where you stopped being the coaching staff/Tomlin's boy band fanboy certainly didn't last long. Jesus man.

I definitely buy this as a factor. The Steelers seem like a very old school organization that would have major problems with this. Or at minimum, the player needs to be way better for them to tolerate this stuff.

I'd be pretty irritated if they don't re-sign Fields if they're letting Wilson walk. I don't quite understand why I've seen so many insiders suggest that they don't want Wilson but Fields also may not come back, I thought it would be an absolute given they'd re-sign Fields.

None of this is shocking for anyone who has followed RW career.

A lot of his former teammates have criticized him for being disingenuous, a poor leader and never being held accountable.

KJ Wright seemed to explain it best:

"I don't want to go viral with this. I really don't. But a few dudes have came on here—off record, on record—and have said what they've said of how they felt about No. 3. When you play this game, when you go through this journey, it's all about the brothers. It's all about the brotherhood. And when it's all said and done, he's got a lot of making up to do. He's got a lot of phone calls to make. A lot of, 'Hey, bro, I should have done better with that.' And that's the God's honest truth. I can hold that inside but he's got a lot of making up to do."

First of all, hilarious the local guys feel comfortable saying Russ is out only after Glazer's comments.

Second, it makes sense. Tomlin needs a scapegoat. Since Smith didn't get a HC gig, they need something to point to why 2025 will be different. Also makes sense since Smith and Wilson didn't get along the best.

Third, it's also entirely believable that Russ burned some bridges here. Seems he's done that at every stop.

You can criticize the coaches and the gm for a lo t of things like 0 tds in the 1st QT or 4 yards per play on 1st down. I have said it’s timefor a divorce but Art isn’t ready for it so nothing we can do about Tomlin. However anyone who watched the all 22 knew RW was lying and could see they didn’t take it from him. They could also see what the Eagles and Ravens saw on tape he can’t read defense post snap
I fully expect Khan to be busy in free agency in part because of failed drafting by Colbert they have to spend a ton of new money this offseason and next.
I fully expect a rpo 2 te system like Buffalo Bmore use. I am expecting more motion and more switch releases from the wr group and them to rebuild the dl like they did on o line and see what happens

I think it’s an absolute given JF is back I don’t think he gets a big deal but not sure he will take a 3/30 we gave MT either

Thank god Russ wont be back. I wish a team had been foolish enough to offer Smith a head coaching gig.

Fixed that up for you.

Does it really matter?

Fields has always seemed like a good dude and he’s easier to root for than RW, but him coming back or not won’t move the needle.

Any youngish first round QBs out there selling insurance?

So Dulac is saying it’s possible that Harris is back on a 2 or 3 year deal around 7-10 million a year similar to what Mixon Hubbard Connor got in season and they would still draft a rb. Warren would still be tendered but with his injury history and fumbles not comfortable with him being able to be rb1A

He said he talked to Tomlin personally. To publicly identify his source like that seems pretty legit to me.
If Glazer is close friends with Tomlin, I'd think his speculation carries a bit more weight.

We know the answer to this, but why for the 2nd consecutive season is there such drama surrounding the QB/OC? This team is so dysfunctional because it's being captained by a dude who doesn't understand modern day football

Leaders who strive to be liked typically fail. They can't make the tough decisions needed to be successful. They don't want to upset the herd.

Our simpleton ownership thinks this a positive.

I really hate this organization right now.

The drama this year is just what Russell Wilson does though. It happened in Seattle. It happened in Denver. It’s happening here.

Tomlin’s offensive philosophy makes Joe Walton look like Bill Walsh.

Tomlin has done an atrocious job of drafting and developing skill players.

Bell in 2013 was literally the last skill player he drafted and developed that was one of the best at his position in the league for more than one season.

Juju had one big year in 2018 and faded.

Pickens is a #2 WR that wouldn’t make most people’s top 15-20 list. And he clearly is dropping hints he wants out of Pgh.

Muth and Harris aren’t considered game breakers or guys the other team has to plan for.

DJ - lol.

Rudolph and KP couldn’t get out of Pgh fast enough.

All of this is just a coincidence like bad luck in the playoffs over the last 8 years.

His column today:

I'll keep this short and very much to the point: Russell Wilson's not wanted by the Steelers.

Like, at all.

I had multiple conversations Thursday with people inside the team, all on my long drive up here to Manhattan to cover hockey, and the universal sentiment among them regarding the player who quarterbacked the offense to a five-loss collapse to close the season was this: Don't try here what you tried in Denver upon that ugly exit from the Broncos after a public spat with Sean Payton, which was to blame others for your shortcomings.

Also this: There's the door.

I'm not at liberty to engage in a lot of details here, and I'd apologize for that except that this is how conversations like these can take place. But I'm here to state as firmly as I possibly can that this nonsense that was echoed by a local newspaper earlier this week about how Wilson was suddenly handcuffed by Arthur Smith after a strong showing in Cincinnati ... was exactly that. Meaning nonsense. Absolutely nothing had changed about Smith's approach in the options he offers to quarterbacks, whether Wilson or Justin Fields, and nothing sure was about to change after Wilson ran up 44 points against the Bengals. But I'm told that Wilson's agents, part of his voluminous entourage, put forth that narrative, and they did so in an apparent attempt to either preserve his status in Pittsburgh or enhance the chance that another team might want him as a starter.

Enunciating every syllable: It won't be here.

No chance.

None.

What actually occurred with Wilson, according to those same people inside the team, is that, as all of our naked eyes could plainly tell us, he wasn't following the play calls, he was holding the ball way too long and, within the latter, he no longer could escape defenders in the backfield. I also heard internal concerns expressed -- for the first time, I might add -- about his arm strength. He just wasn't good, aside from the odd prayer ball he'd heave up for George Pickens.

So, why wouldn't Mike Tomlin have made a change back to Justin Fields as the season was sliding away?

I don't have that answer. Maybe it was that he wouldn't have felt right thrusting Fields back out there for a playoff after two months of rust, but again, I don't know.

Going back further, why would the Steelers have ever signed Wilson if they had worries -- which they did -- about his conduct with the coaches in Denver?

I do have that answer. He was available on a one-year, $2 million term and was deemed worth the gamble, given all the problems at the position since Ben Roethlisberger's retirement.

But that's it. That's over.

Happy to answer any questions on this from our subscribers in comments, as always, though I'll remind that I'm here for hockey today with a ton to do on that front, so it might take a while.
