Although things were better for the Kings last season, up until April, it felt like the past two years have been a long continuation of 2014-15, where this team showed how much they struggled against fast teams and how inept they are at even strength scoring and getting regulation wins. Without the three-on-three format, they're a bottom five team.

This season, it's very close to that. In 14-15, they did well in regulation. Last year, they were only 1 point worse than SJ in regulation. This season, everything has fallen apart. In 14-15, Gaborik scored. This season, no. Toffoli scored last year. This year, no. Kopitar, worse than 14-15. Muzzin, he was bad in the World Cup too.

But then they also opened the 2014 playoffs with the way they played in the first couple games. They were well on their way to going out quietly with Williams, Mitchell, Regehr, Greene, Richards, Stoll, and whoever else is considered to be the glue that held this team together.

We're all just throwing whatever we can against the wall to see if it sticks. Looking for this or that reason why the Kings are in this position.

Hell, DL thought this was a playoff team at the deadline.

An extra first round pick would look pretty good right about now.

How do you figure?

Could've gotten one for Muzzin. Hopefully a team desperate for a dman can be fooled into moving something of value for him.

Muzzin is a defenseman that needs to be protected in the draft, for whatever team that has him. Who is giving you a 1st round pick for him at the deadline when that's the case? Especially this season, when anyone can see that he's been awful for most of it.

Carolina only had to protect Faulk on d, the rest of their d is exempt. Maybe them?
