I dunno I mean what's not to like?

He has really good size. Is an excellent skater has a little bit of salt in his game and is a very positionally sound defenseman. I think he is a great prospect and will turn out being a better all around D than Forbort who I also like. To each their own and time will have to tell. He could use a little bit of zing but considering where he is from and the style of hockey he was raised playing I see allot of very good pop to his game.

He's not a particularly good skater. He is not overly physical. His positioning is not amazing. Hockey IQ is alright but not great. He has decent all around skills at junior level. Overall it's just a really mediocre package to me. Looks solid at junior level but I'm not sold he has the skills to turn it up to the next level.

He's got a really swell smile though

I think he has a lot of solid tools, but not much of an identity to his game.

Being pretty good at everything but not excelling at anything is why a lot of people around here hated McKeown at first, too (then he got traded and it was OMG DL OUR DEPTH! :sarcasm:). Difference here is simply size.

I had McKeown above Fleury for that draft. McKeown had very high hockey IQ and a real good skater. That's the difference, IMO. Hockey IQ in particular can mask a lack of skill. Don't really see it with Lintuniemi.

He is an excellent skater especially for his size and age and while I agree he isn't overly physical he does play smartly physical when needs be, he doesn't shy away from it. I would compare his physical game to more of a hybrid but no matter. His IQ is great at the level he is playing today and for his age/experience it is better than most of his peers. I watch a stupid amount of OHL/CHL games including 67's (not implying you don't) and AL is a stand out among his peers imo. He reminds me of a Muzzin in some ways at the same age and also a bit like Martinez only with a bit more smarts/physical presence to his game during the same stage in their individual development. Lots of people didn't see much in them early on either. Like I said though time will work this one out and in a couple of years we will see where he lands. Agree to disagree.

Fair enough but he still needs time to develop as a player and as a player in our system. We have a great record of helping kids figure out their games. He has the tools and just needs time to learn how to use them.

Went back 5 years for fun. The prospect list from 2010 is absolutely insane. So so many current NHLers, ex-NHLers, or future NHLers.

http://hfboards.mandatory.com/showthread.php?t=819934

1. Bernier- 87.21%
2. Schenn- 86.36%
3. Hickey- 62.22%
4. Forbort- 36.36%
5. Vyacheslav Voynov- 35.96%
6. Loktionov- 63.16%
7. Clifford- 56.47%
8. Teubert- 34.38%
9. Deslauriers- 29.35%
10. Kozun- 32.47%
11. Toffoli- 28.21%
12. Jones- 29.41%
13. Muzzin- 37.35%
14. Zatkoff- 50.85%
15. Lewis- 31.25%
16. Weal- 28.57%
17. Martinez- 34.48%
18. Holloway- 29.63%
19. Czarnik- 39.58%
20. Kitsyn - 50.00%

So notables that missed the list include Dwight King, Linden Vey, Marc-Andre Cliche, Jordan Nolan, Kevin Gravel, JF Berube.

Oh wow. That puts some of these lists into perspective. Fans always overrate higher draft picks, most guys chosen in the Top 10 were first or second rounders and most of them failed to live up to expectations (save Voynov & Clifford). Just basically tells us what we already know, the Kings kill it in the later rounds and are pretty mediocre in the first round.

Schenn was overrated around here, certainly. Atleast he is a somewhat useful NHL'er. Nothing close to the hype or where he was taken.

Teubert being in the Top 20, much less #8 was shocking to me at the time. He was sent to the ECHL back to back years before this poll was taken and was still able to be Top 8. I know I had alot of debates with guys who's opinion I respect like Ziggy and Reaper, but to me this is the most baffling pick the Kings have made since I have been following the team (and that is saying something) Been able to see a few first round picks play in person in college, including some flops like Mitera and Thelen, saw Teubert play a game for the Reign, never seen a first rounder who looked so bad.

Lokti was one of those guys who looked the part but was just missing something that was going to make him an NHL'er.

Pretty sick run from 11-17 on this list. And props to BobaFett as one of the few fans who correctly had Muzzin pegged as a top prospect at that time, you should be a pro scout.

And that's fair. But usually, I see a player who has some strengths to his game, and plays a certain way, and he has some things he needs to work on to achieve a higher level of success.

Lintuniemi is just a mixed bag of tendencies, skills, and style of play, where he's not really having a specific approach to his game. He could round out and be a solid player in all aspects. Or he could just get lost trying to establish himself.

I think the developmental team does a great job, but without knowing what type of player Lintuniemi is trying to dedicate himself to, it's hard to get enthusiasm for the player he will become.

McKoewn is someone I don't see being much of a NHLer at all. He's a lot of initial flash but over repeated viewings he looks like he'll be a depth guy at best. I did not sweat losing him for a moment.

Come on now, that is a really mean and insulting comment, take it easy on the kid

Well, apparently the Hurricane puck bunnies are all aTwitter about him...they are less
concerned about him getting pucks up ice cleanly.

Back to picks 7 and beyond; one year from now, I bet a few of the 'beyond #6' group emerge into solid prospects and may even supplant a few in the top 6.

Go development team! The poor scouts once again do not have a #1 pick and
have their work cut out.
