Thank you. Great analysis.
So... you think the Jets should go 82-0 and dominate every game, or else you'll be stressed? You are welcome. I am not saying I am brilliant but I see things differently than many posters. I take emotion out of my analysis. I used to base it on that but as I get older and the players get younger I put it in perspective. I do not live and die by each win as I have said before this season has been tough because I know they are good but are they playoff good? I do not think they are playoff good.
I was told by posters to relax and enjoy the ride. I am trying but games like last nights make me wish the playoffs started today so I can be proven wrong.
Hey... gotta give it to Stan...
The last 2 times they lost to LA they had Pionk and Villardi.
My comment is not about the loss it is about consistently losing to certain teams that play a certain style but gloss over that to call me out.
I cannot help it if my analysis is next level and only a select few on here are able to match my knowledge and analyze this exactly as you said ' as not being a fan aka a fanatic. I am a realist. I want them to win the cup as much as anyone but their are serious flaws in their game that Vegas and the Kings expose.
Could be - but it looks to me like he is trying to balance his lines with skill / grit - not sure that is the way to go but that's what he's trying to do.I think Arniel is trying to get the third line going which is why he put Fly there to try to jump start the offense but through 4 games it really hasn't accomplished that. It also has resulted in Fly being pushed into a defensive shut down role which isn't optimal for his skill set.
They are also clearly trying to get Nino going by playing him with Cole. Cole is still on fire but the results for Nino have been mixed.
I understand why he's doing it as the third line got its shit handed to them in the playoffs last year. Given the lines importance we really need them to be going in the post season to go deep. But the experiment doesn't seem to be working so maybe it's time to put Fly back on line 2.
But not every team blocks the zone entry as well as LA, or has the transition they have. But ya, hockey is a game of mistakes as we saw last night.I mean thats the recipe for success against every team..
I think Stanley needs someone a bit more Fleet of foot with himLooks like I’m in the minority with Schenn Stanley 3 d pairing
I think Arniel is going with Schenn Fluery when healthyI think Stanley needs someone a bit more Fleet of foot with him
Agreed, it says something when the smallest player on the team is much better at winning battles then the biggest.
The Stanley thing continues to perplex me. It's largely not due to his play (he's been good in his role moat of the year) but due to the sheer amount of resources this org has put into this player. I mean whats the end goal here other then him turning into a competent bottom pairing PK dmen. That amount of return falls well short in terms of expected pay out from the amount of resources invested in him.
Also the role they continue to groom him for is a role that this org has shown it can easily find in the market. Chevy has gone out and gotten comparable and better dmen in Dillon, Schenn, Miller etc over the years. Heck he drafted a better dmen late in Kovacevic. Finding dmen to play that bottom pairing PK role at a level equal to or better than Stanley isn't hard.
I can live with that.I think Arniel is going with Schenn Fluery when healthy
I think Stanley's biggest problem is when he makes a mistake it's often cataclysmicExactly. Stanley’s best game was arguably against Tampa where he had a goal and a fight. Otherwise, his “good” game is when he is effectively invisible. Problem is that he isn’t invisible more often than not.
I thought he made some nice puck moving decisions prior to the gaffe... footspeed is not good enough for the playoffs thoughI think Stanley's biggest problem is when he makes a mistake it's often cataclysmic
It’s interesting with Stanley. There is no doubt they have overvalued him and given him more opportunity than guys that were as good if not better than him (if that’s what you mean by resources I agree).
Seems like this season Arnie doubled down on the plan. Not that you can take press conferences verbatim but when Scott said ‘he’s not going to get better sitting in the press box’ then proceeded to play him 56 games and counting this season.
Scott seemed to want depth toughness to support Lowry after Dillon left. Stan is not ideal for that and they have miscast him as a PK’er which is a weakness IMO.
I am not too bent about it, I see him as a #7 tweener like Fluery and on his good days he is serviceable on the bottom pair. I would prefer to see Logan as an injury replacement playing less than 40 games a season and not on the PK.
Too bad Schenn isn’t left handed because Luke is the ideal replacement for Logan since he is actually tough and way more physical.
Ya we should get Makar , that might help Stanley.I think Stanley needs someone a bit more Fleet of foot with him
agreed.By resources I mean almost a decade worth of development since his draft. Add in the pick value, the cost to protect him during the expansion draft, and the value of the players who were waived to keep him in that spot and it's bordering on absurd for a run of the mill number 6 dmen.
I agree that he's miscast but that to me just screams an org trying to find any way to make it work.
I don't think any player has been given the leash he has in the history of Jets 2.0
You know that the Leafs just lost to San Jose right ? As a matter of fact they let San Jose score 6 times. How does that give you confidence ? Don't worry i already know how because you are a Leafs fan not a Jets fan.....The team I am pulling for is going to have a hard time getting past the first round in the West. I am not on any horse just realistic. They are 1 round and don if they do not start playing playoff hockey. The Kings did and that game was over at 3-1 wit h a period to play.
The Leafs will win the cup. It really pains me to say it but that is my opinion.
Could be - but it looks to me like he is trying to balance his lines with skill / grit - not sure that is the way to go but that's what he's trying to do.
In a game like this one, the Jets needed to get more bodies and pucks to the net - and that's where the mix of players on each line comes in.
So the lines are set to accomplish that but the game plan was missing.
I think the coach knows what it takes to beat a team like LA - good N zone coverage and lots of shots and traffic - and I didn't see much of that.
It's tough to dismantle lines and expect them to gel over night - that might be part of it. The other part is figuring out what type of game you want to play each night - and getting the players on board with that plan.
Also looks like there might be some tinkering going on right now - this coach is looking at options that will work in PO hockey. I hope the players can adapt.

Chevy better re-sign Ehlers before July 1st because we all know he’ll otherwise be wanting to keep his phone lines open waiting for Stanley to sign an 6x$7mil extension that morning.Looking on the bright side. Stanley is only signed for one more year and then he becomes an unrestricted free agent. Hopefully, he signs somewhere else.
Talk about taking my comments out of context.So... you think the Jets should go 82-0 and dominate every game, or else you'll be stressed?
Instead of giving up being a Jets fan, maybe give up being a hockey fan altogether. I believe that the team that's ahead in the standings only has a 55% chance of winning any given NHL game
Or maybe step back and look at the season as a whole instead of getting fixated on a one game sample size
You certainly haven't taken any emotion out of your analysis... just certain ones
No, because you're excluding the wins vs teams that are better than the Kings and LVGK. Why only cherrypick the losses? What does that say about you?Talk about taking my comments out of context.
I am concerned because the Jets were swept by the Kings in stunning fashion.
I am not focused on this game only. I am focused on their losses to teams like Vegas and the kings who seem more playoff ready than the Jets.
Can you understand my 'next level' thinking now?
Stanley said he wants to be a life long Jet (after his initial trade request). The Jets are gonna make it happen.Chevy better re-sign Ehlers before July 1st because we all know he’ll otherwise be wanting to keep his phone lines open waiting for Stanley to sign an 6x$7mil extension that morning.
