Post-Game Talk: Kings 4 - Jets 1

Playing Ehlers on the Lowry line, makes zero sense. Ehlers should be on a line with Perfetti.

Lowry has about 12 goals this year, and not many assists. Way overrated by the Jets. He’s a good defensive player, and great enforcer, but that’s about it.

C’mon Arniel - wake up.

I think Arniel is trying to get the third line going which is why he put Fly there to try to jump start the offense but through 4 games it really hasn't accomplished that. It also has resulted in Fly being pushed into a defensive shut down role which isn't optimal for his skill set.

They are also clearly trying to get Nino going by playing him with Cole. Cole is still on fire but the results for Nino have been mixed.

I understand why he's doing it as the third line got its shit handed to them in the playoffs last year. Given the lines importance we really need them to be going in the post season to go deep. But the experiment doesn't seem to be working so maybe it's time to put Fly back on line 2.

Washington just lost to the Sabres FFS

Teams will have off games, especially with two of their 6 dmen out of the line up and their 1RW

Why do you even bother being a Jets "fan"? I think even the most negative of the posters on here are sick of your bullshit
Agreed, missing both Pionk and Schenn on defense is definitely a blow to the team. Some may say why those players aren't that great but the difference between them and the defenseman replacing them is. And we are missing Vilardi on the PP big time.

Playing Stanley on his off side might not be the greatest coaching decision. While his skating is not bad he struggles with foot speed in tight areas and tries to make plays that are way above his pay grade. That being said Arniel has said many a time that they are willing to stay with him despite his gaffs. Like it or not he will be in the lineup come playoffs most because I think the Jets like L-R pairings.

I really think they just need to let the 3rd line play their way and win their matchups. Put Nik back with Namestnikov and Perfetti.

Yes, I agree it’s time to put Ehlers back on the 2nd line, where he belongs.

The Jets had the best overall record in the NHL, with this lineup, so why not just leave it alone. You need a skill guy like Cole to set up Ehlers, or Ehlers to set up Cole.

As for Nino, he’s going to have to get himself going, and lift up his game.

It's not a development league. He's had the longest leash of any drafted player the Jets have had. If he wasn't 6'7" and drafted in the 1st round, he would be in the AHL if he was lucky.

No need to sugar coat it. He's awful. Last year in the playoffs he cost us dearly with bad penalties and turnovers. Coghlan (R), Fluery, Heinola etc are more skilled guys, far from perfect but far better. I'd rather have Coghlan out there on his offside.

Schenn opens the door for those other guys because the only reason stan is here is physicality, which I'd argue he isn't even that effective at.
I have really liked Coghlan's game the little he has played.

Yeah i think that's a mistake. He just isn't a strong enough skater to have him making off side pivots. He gets walked even more when he plays rhd.

The last 2 times they lost to LA they had Pionk and Villardi.
My comment is not about the loss it is about consistently losing to certain teams that play a certain style but gloss over that to call me out.
I cannot help it if my analysis is next level and only a select few on here are able to match my knowledge and analyze this exactly as you said ' as not being a fan aka a fanatic. I am a realist. I want them to win the cup as much as anyone but their are serious flaws in their game that Vegas and the Kings expose.

I'd rather have Iafallo signed at 4m for the next 2 year than Nino atm, he just doesn't accomplish much lately and dare I say Apples is doing more for this team
Nino has been struggling mightily. The question is, is he playing through something or is time catching up with him.

We tend to forget that that the third line plays an extremely physically demanding game.

Lowry looks a little worn out right now. I wish we could have locked up 1st sooner, Nino and Lowry would probably benefit from some r&r

The common denominator for effectiveness against us is physical, tight checking games, forcing turnovers and capitalizing. Make Helle move across the ice on rushes.

LA was way more physical, and buried their chances. They're a great team.
Exactly. The Jets played right into the Kings game. LA waits for the mistake to happen, gets the lead and does not look back.

I am not sure how the Leafs beat them at home but it adds evidence to my case that this is the leafs year, which makes me want to 🤮

I agree but i don't think we've seen him enough to understand his warts :)

I remember thinking that Fleury was the next coming, but the more he played the more you saw why the Jets so easily picked him up.

That's just a fact of these tweener guys. They are obviously good enough to play in the nhl but they just can't seem to put consistently strong play together.

Every nhl team has these guys, and every fan base complains about them. The coaches job is to try and mitigate their weaknesses through systems, partners and utilization.

Right now for the Jets, unfortunately, we only really have 3 legitimate everyday defenseman playing.

Its fine when you have one guy on the bottom pair, but 3 is a hard number to hide.

This is the Jets third straight loss to Kings including an embarassing loss at home
The Jets have lost the past 8 games vs the knights.
This is not about the time the game started. It is about those teams playing a system that the Jets cannot handle or perhaps those teams are simply better than the Jets despite the standings. It is fortunate they would not face either team until the WCF but this should set off alarm bells even for the least pessimistic fans.

The embarrassing 2-1 OT loss at home?

Yes, the Kings style does frustrate the Jets, but the Kings do it the best of anyone, and once they lose to Edmonton in the 1st round, as is tradition, we'll see if they change it up next year. If they do manage to beat the Oilers, we'll get to see a Vegas-Kings series, which might actually be fun.

Totally agree, Coghlan's game may suffer the more he played but we now know what Stanley brings and i wouldn't mind Coghlan getting a game or 2 and parking Stanley for a game or 2. If Schenn is playing we don't need both Schenn and Stanley in the lineup at the same time that's for sure.

I mean did we not just beat dallas and the caps recently? we lose 1 f***ing game after every mistake goes in our net while missing a top line winger #3 and #5 d-man and you are going to call them frauds after 1 loss?
To be fair, I did admit in that other thread that my playoff hopes are influenced by any given game lol.

And I didn’t call them frauds as of now.

"Next level analysis" LOL

Who else have they lost to "consistently" this season? And what about all the teams who play a style that the Jets BEAT consistently? We're talking about excellent teams like Washington and Dallas

It's one team. The only chance of playing them would be in the WCF. If we get to that point, we'll deal with it then

I mean thats the recipe for success against every team..

I don’t sports bet, but if there was a way to bet that Stanley will single-handedly cost us playoff games, I would be all over that.

I cannot for the life of me understand, the coaching and management blind spot when it comes to this guy. He is a full-on joke of a player. We were coming on in the third period last night, until his LA gift. We were done after that.

I can only imagine how bad that 2nd line will be if we lose Ehlers in free agency. He should have already been signed and extended. Could be he wants out?

I was just going to say something like this. I wonder if age might be catching up to both Nino and Lowry. This is the second year in a row where their play and the lines play have fallen way off the back half of the year.

Wonder if they are able to impose their will on teams early in the year while other teams are still getting up to speed but then have a harder time as they wear out later and other teams ramp up and get more organized.

Interesting take. However id say our main problem right now is the PP has stopped moving their feet and line 1 is not backchecking... fix those and it trickles doemqn thru the team
