Post-Game Talk: Kings 4 - Jets 1

Tough game for the Jets basically not starting until 10pm for them, hopefully they are more or less adjusted to the time change for the Vegas game. This was a game for Stanley to get a big hit to try and change the momentum of the game instead he made a big mistake that turned the momentum of the game back to LA . Hopefully Schenn is ready to play next game and take Stanley out of the lineup. Also maybe put Ehlers or Perfetti with Scheifele and Connor next game.

I totally agree with this. If Schenn is healthy, you don’t play Stanley, as he has slow foot speed, and makes quite a few mistakes.

I also don’t like the way Ehlers is being used with Lowry, as Adam is a lot slower, and not a great playmaker.

I’d rather see Ehlers being centred by Namistikov, and Cole on the wing. Cole has the playmaking skills, to set up Ehlers.

OR - put Ehlers on the # 1 line, and drop Iafallo down in the lineup,

This next game vs Vegas, will give us a good indication of how the Jets will do in the playoffs.

They lost all 3 games against LA this year, and have a bad record vs Vegas.

It’s time for the Jets to show what their made of now, and see if they can take 1st place in the Central.

If they don’t and start to fade away now, good chance they don’t make it out of the 1st round - “ again.”

made a couple mistakes and they scored on them while we couldn't score on any of ours, happens move onto the next
It is comical that people can say move onto the next. LA swept the season series, outscored the Jets 10-3 , allowing them only 52 shots in 3 games ( from Mike Mac of the freep).
This is alarming, the game was over before it began. It is the type of game that illustrates just how fragile the Jets are and susceptible to being done in the first round but sure move on like nothing happened and chalk it up to puck luck.

This is the Jets third straight loss to Kings including an embarassing loss at home
The Jets have lost the past 8 games vs the knights.
This is not about the time the game started. It is about those teams playing a system that the Jets cannot handle or perhaps those teams are simply better than the Jets despite the standings. It is fortunate they would not face either team until the WCF but this should set off alarm bells even for the least pessimistic fans.

Gave up after 2 periods... Jets have never had an answer for 1-3-1 with max pressure forecheck - not many teams do - but every team in the west is going to play this way except Edmonton...

Scheif is back to his 'Adam Oates dont get hurt' perimeter passing game as opposed to his Anze Kopitar game... please come back

Get Ehlers and Perfetti back on the same line - or get Perfetti on line 1 and Iafallo back with Ehlers

Miller, DeMelo and Jomo had bad games... Fleury and Stan had 'should be jettisoned into the sun' games

Not throwing Miller under the bus after one game in the top 4 - especially since we actually have zero depth on D

Time to rest Helle - no question

All movememnt on the PP has stopped - just hope Arniel doesn't think that removing Ehlers will 'help' our issues...

Team was rested for this game - we are getting into a wide variety of excuses...

Not panicking but the line changes last night were horrifyingly unaware.

I find the Kings to be a very boring team to watch. They have played like this for the last 15 years. Low event hockey.
It’s the kind of game that puts me to sleep especially with the late start.
Very odd how the kings are 28-4-4 at home !!! And under .500 on the road. That makes no sense. I think last year they were a power road team.
I hate playing the kings and if they were this effective all the time wouldn’t they win every game they play ? We can’t figure them out but somehow numerous teams have. They make first round exits every year.

Thats a tough one! A big trap game seems to be our problem.

We had zero luck, lots of terrible bounces, as has been mentioned.

Onward and upward... the Jets are clearly a great team. With some tweaks and adjustments on D, (nudge nudge - say no more) I think the Jets will again find their winning ways.

10 pm starts can kiss my derrierre. A big assed tea-sipping navel-gazing exercise in self-love by the baroque pompadour-mongering LA media was loaded with apoptotic neuron-damaging je n'ais ce quoi.

Let them play hockey ye rotund prancing ninnies. Just put the Mousse and the microphone down and back away.

What's the Jets record without Pionk now?

These bad ice Southern games have been the Jets nemesis all year. Hard trap. Drive the net hard.

I have to say it was a tough one to stay awake for, the goal horn on #2 woke me up. All 3 goals came from turnovers on the same side of the ice. The side missing Pionk and Schenn on defense. Jets are now one injury away from playing Heinola in a key game.

The extra late start is just not something you get up for. The pregame ceremony was a good way to slow down the Jets start

2nd period had promise but the ability to get clean shots was missed, took a successful PK to generate the best one. Then you find yourself saying damm, Stanley.

I'll say that Barron and Tanev are going to be fun to watch in the playoffs.

If Dallas wins tomorrow they are officially in striking distance.

If the Jets end up having to go through Colorado again so be it.

Stay healthy. Keep battling.
Heinola would be an upgrade over Stan. He's a way better puck mover and skater. Heinola and Schenn or Fluery and Schenn would be fine. Not sure how many dozens of games people need to see that Stanley is not an NHL player. If he was 5'11 190 he would barely be in the AHL.

Playing Ehlers on the Lowry line, makes zero sense. Ehlers should be on a line with Perfetti.

Lowry has about 12 goals this year, and not many assists. Way overrated by the Jets. He’s a good defensive player, and great enforcer, but that’s about it.

C’mon Arniel - wake up.

This was a bit of a frustrating game. LA is playing extremely well and locked into their defensive structure. The Jets despite that got enough good looks to win but they were just slightly off in the finishing department.

Helle had a bit of an off game (for him)

2 things that pissed me off:

Stanley's play (though I appreciate his desire to try to make something happen down 1) it revised me of a 'bad Buff' play that used to drive me nuts. There are times to try that as a defenseman and when you're entire team is heading north that isn't one of them

The second power play. They looked so lackadaisical, where was the desperation?

Other than that I thought the boys played hard and carried more than their share of play.

We need to see more from non Nino and Lowry, and Gus had an uncharacteristically sloppy game. It's rare to say he was at fault for a goal.

Heinola would get eaten up in a high physical pressure game. The time to play him was earlier in the season but the coaches don't like something about him. I don't know if it's his practice or off ice habits or what but the fact that they didn't insert him when Pionk went down says volumes.

Washington just lost to the Sabres FFS

Teams will have off games, especially with two of their 6 dmen out of the line up and their 1RW

Why do you even bother being a Jets "fan"? I think even the most negative of the posters on here are sick of your bullshit

Stanley probably takes too much abuse on here and he has played some ok games but you can't make a bad turnover carrying the puck up the ice and then fall down to boot . To me that's Stanley's biggest weakness , he isn't a good enough skater .....

It's not a development league. He's had the longest leash of any drafted player the Jets have had. If he wasn't 6'7" and drafted in the 1st round, he would be in the AHL if he was lucky.

No need to sugar coat it. He's awful. Last year in the playoffs he cost us dearly with bad penalties and turnovers. Coghlan (R), Fluery, Heinola etc are more skilled guys, far from perfect but far better. I'd rather have Coghlan out there on his offside.

Schenn opens the door for those other guys because the only reason stan is here is physicality, which I'd argue he isn't even that effective at.

Stan gets eaten up, gives the puck away, can't skate and takes bad penalties. So ya I'd take Heinola who moves the puck better and skates better. In the last few games VH did play he was improving greatly.

I'd take any of the "extra" defenseman we have over Stan.

The common denominator for effectiveness against us is physical, tight checking games, forcing turnovers and capitalizing. Make Helle move across the ice on rushes.

LA was way more physical, and buried their chances. They're a great team.
