I wonder if they would target Kapanen, with a 5 million offer etc, assuming that this year was a fluke, he could help their team immediately, and he quite possibly would be better than what they could get with the 2020 1st.....

The talk around here on Toronto sports radio by the ‘experts’ is Kapanen could command a dollar figure in the high 5 million dollar range per year.

I’d hold that 1st round pick and target guys on the lower end of an offer sheet that would cost you something outside of a 1st round pick. There is value there, someone had a list of guys on a previous page.

I’d love to see some offer sheets thrown around this summer by the GMs. Would certainly add intrigue to the off-season.

What blows my mind is that Quick is still playing a lot of games when we have no shot at the playoffs. He has an injury history and a lot of miles on him. Why not give more playing time to Campbell? He needs games for experience and is solid in net. Quick also needs rest whether he wants to or not.

If this is all Willie, Blake should fire him and coach the team until the season ends so that he controls playing time.
Kings are not tanking.Players have to much pride and performance bonuses to reach.WD isnt losing cause he wants a job with another team.Quick is being moved most likely at the draft and he needs to play to show case.

Columbus roughing up the pens. Miss the time where the Kings had balls.

I agree. The players are professionals and I don’t expect them to tank. But Campbell has played really well this season. Why ride Quick hard when it’s impossible to make playoffs and Campbell is absolutely solid in net?

Where did I say tanking =Campbell?Quick is being traded in the offseason so it makes since to keep him on the ice as much as possible for value.

We can't assume Quick is going to be traded. He has to go to a team that plays rock solid defense, or else whatever Quick can do isn't worth the $5.8m cap hit investment over the next 4 years for a 33 year old goalie. Columbus is going down the toilet, and we can see Quick can't save a team from going down the toilet. The Islanders can probably re-sign Lehner for less than $5.8m. Carolina doesn't spend a ton, have to re-sign Aho, and can bring in cheaper options than Quick, and probably get numbers that are as good. Florida may go for Bob.

If Quick is finally gone, it'll be great. It's hardly a given though. He is old, with many years on a contract. No other franchise has an emotional connection to Quick. Nobody is going to bring him in as a charity case, like the Panthers did with Roberto "My contract sucks" Luongo. It's more likely the Kings are stuck with Quick than not. That's the bed they made when they gave him a 10 year contract though.

I have watched every King game this year and always record 1 other game on center ice each day...and also flip through other games. I have seen every NHL player this year. Jeff Carter is the worst of any and all players I have seen this year. Cannot make plays (zero passes to his linemates tonight in offensive zone; the one on the PP shouldn't really count - talking about even strength play) Cannot get a good shot off like he used to...VERY RARE. Loses his man continually, so slashes or cross checks him - could have had 5 penalties tonight - never outskates anyone. Super easy to defend against - he cannot beat you in any way, or will be very physical. Zero tenacity. zero. zero urgency. zero above average NHL play most any night. He makes his linemates SUFFER. He does not help them in any way, nor ever be a catalyst. You watch the entire play develop - on offense, transition, or on defense and he's ALWAYS about at 75% of the level of all the play / players around him - on either team. It's like EVERYONE else on the ice is performing 25% (or more) higher level than him. AND YET - he gets the 3rd most icetime of the forwards. 15 games 0 goals. 4 assists. Minus 8. And looks overall terrible. I have not seen another NHL player this year, that looks like they clearly belong in the AHL. Not even Dion. They just need to scratch him, period. When comparing his to ANY other NHL player - not fair to judge a 4th line player, getting 6-7 minutes, to a 2nd line center, getting 18 TOI and geting PP minutes, in terms of 77 having 10 goals. The 4th line player would have to FAIL at every facet of the game they play / their role - forecheck, checking, energy, defensively responsible, etc. I have not seen any NHL player FAIL at ALL of their responsibilites, as Jeff Carter, fail at ALL of his responsibilities as a second line center:: being a catalyst, creating offense, feeding his wingers, scoring goals, physical presence, 2-way play. Spectacularly FAIL at all of those. It ain't ever gonna change. He must be removed in any way - off this team. Oh, and the Kings are 3-1-2 when he does not play...a Tampa Bay like record. Not surprising.

Well I think it can happen.

Just quoting this because Carts has been so f***ing terrible this season - a shell of his former self.

It’s like he’s had his insides sucked out by that ‘smart bug’ in that lengendary film, Starship Troopers. Or like that farmer in Men In Black that was just skin and bones.

Starship Troopers was the first movie I had ever seen with boobies as a child. Oh nostalgia.

Come on now, Carter has been abysmal no doubt, but he's not even the worst player on his own team. For your consideration:

There were some horrible teams when they played at the forum. The first few seasons at Staples saw some really poor hockey teams as well.

This years team, This team is my least favorite of them all, and it's not even close. How they play, how the minutes are distributed and how they talk to the fans. As a whole, it's pathetic and it pisses me off.

It really frustrates me too, I find myself flipping over to other games during the Kings game to watch just an overall better brand of hockey. Even the few younger guys we have don't get enough minutes to make me want to watch if they are going to do anything special.
